    Can we talk about Suzaku Ex and simon says?

    This is week 4 of patch 4.4. Should be safe to discuss.

    The simon says mechanic has so much flaws that make the whole fight frustrating and not enjoyable. I really don't want to see this mechanic ever again. On paper this mechanic is easily doable by itself. At beginning, I thought I just need to run around to avoid explosion, which seems simple once you get the [4th] color trick, but the game has too much latency problems to make it so your perfect execution doesn't count.

    Especially, casters with latency problems are probably flipping tables during it. At least that was what I felt like. For 12341234 pattern as an example, I've seem people alternating between 2 colors to completely ignore simon says. Unfortunately, that method is 1000% gonna get myself killed. It won't ever work, so doing anything but moving is very risky. The only doable way for me is to chase the explosion by start running in circle at [4th] color twice to completely be safe. It is an uncontrollable factor.

    The true nightmare comes after the first set of simon says. I personally am not a fan of falling off platform and yet this time there is an additional hole in the center to force me to move extra careful in a already small environment. Okay, don't go near center. Sounds simple, not. The second set of simon says Suzaku will add either a pull or push aoe. At this point my brain starts to hurt. Just when I'm trying to figure out color pattern and moving to safe spot, here comes a pull. In order to make sure not get hit by the explosion, I must run around the inner circle. 5 out of 10 times, that pull will get me to fall into the hole. If it was a push, it wouldn't be much trouble.

    The nightmare continues on third set of simon says. Suzaku pairs close-quarter crescendo with it. Forget about controlling my character to a safe spot, most of the time I fail to not die here because of the mind control. I still could not handle this part at all after 20 tries.

    I don't think I can clear this ex fight. No, I don't want to do it anymore. I'm so tired, so mentally exhausted trying to perfectly executed simon says only to get F*** by that unreasonable timed server tick explosion, getting pulled into the hole, or get kill by mind control+explosion.

    I farmed all other 4.0 ex primal. Shinryu Ex was exhausting, but it was fun and very doable. Tsukuyomi ex was also very fun with the moon phase change and meteor placement. Suzaku ex on the other hand has been nothing but frustration and fatigue. My friend said simon says is the most BS thing in the game.

    I play with 150 ping (thanks SE). I sidestep the colors just fine. Just move half a sec before it goes off. It's no sercret how the server and animations/cast bars actually work in this game. It's an easy fight and the dps check is extremely forgiving. I mean parties can have like half a dozen deaths and still clear it. Seriously...

    Did... you watch the gif?

    Right, so let me list out the problems.

    -Explosion animation is still playing in a different quadrant when crossing over
    -character is at the black symbol on the ground, when yellow explodes and kills it.
    -After the explosion, character rubberbands backwards. But even with the rubberbanding, it is still in the safe zone.

    While I get that latency is an issue in this fight, it actually sounds more like you, OP, cant deal with the amount of mechanics happening at the same time.

    As caster you can ignore push back/pull in completly by hitting surecast.

    The version with the mindcontrol is actually the easiest for me in regards to latency - check the colours, you want to end on 3 or 4, position yourself accordingly, wait for your character to handle the rest.

    Maybe you're having more trouble with focussing on such things because you're concerend about your latency, I dont know - but to me this sounds if you're at least partly just struggling with mechanics regardless of latency.

    10000% agreed with the OP its more bull than Raubahn and needs fixing asap. Primary reason I still only have one totem (that and becuase of this the fight is anything but fun so I stopped trying and just use a 380 crafted weapon)

    Are you kidding me? that's not what the problem is. Look at the gif the 2nd poster posted.

    While I can get through Simon Says just by focusing on the 4th orb, it's the mindjack thrown in that actually throws me off. The arrows aren't always cardinal for me when I finally identify which one is mines, and by then, it's already past time to be pre-set in your position. Latency is a little bit of an issue, but not something impossible to get through. Push comes to shove, just position yourself towards an explosion if you have enough HP and you'll be fine. Truth be told, it's not a superbly difficult fight, OP. Just requires more attention than before, is all.
