    You know, throwing in my two cents here: regardless of whether or not something is SE's fault, they've still got a problem that isn't working well for many thousands of customers. It's incumbent upon them to do something. If they can't fix it, then they need to soothe it somehow, even if that's just increased CM presence on the EU forums and outreach efforts.

    Incidentally, this is one of the areas in which SE and certain fellow XIV players irritate me: just because something isn't your fault, or just because you admitted something problematic up front, doesn't get you off the hook for a solution. From housing to Glamours, the shallow state of content to the atrocious netcode Yoshi-P inherited, the over-reliance on server authentication to these DDoS attacks: it's quite arguable that many of the main issues facing FFXIV aren't Yoshi-P's fault, nor the development team's fault. It could be corporate, it could be legacy code, it could be stuff occurring outside the XIV data centres. All likely true at least some of the time, if not most of the time.

    The thing is, it just doesn't matter. It's still incumbent upon SE to at least pretend to care. Customers don't like feeling ignored, and reactions of 'well, deal with it, it's not our fault' go over like a lead balloon for many of us. It's harmful for the long-term health of FFXIV to drive people away with this sort of behaviour. Talk to us more. Sympathize with our frustrations a little. Show some empathy. It'll go a long, long way.

    If we go on the assumption that SE will reimburse...
    Waiting until the situation is over would allow them to have a more accurate estimation of how much time the situation ended up being.



    Though, I suppose they could still announce the compensation beforehand, with a disclaimer that they aren't sure how much they would need to compensate for yet.

    Then you are lucky. We had a thread quite some time ago about the problem. Just because it does not hit everyone does not mean that there isnt a problem otherwise since not everyone got a DC either there is also no problem right now.

    In the end since 4.1 quite some people have problems, not necessary DCs or harsh laggs but for example I did notice how macros for crafting can get messed up or skills not getting off. Others have noticed the same.

    It was enough that chaos has kinda become a meme.

    /shrug They had this same "DDoS" issue during SB launch. I don't think they even bothered to reimburse then. Would be a nice gesture but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    I love how peoples way of defending SE about this is saying "oh well it's level 3's fault there's nothing SE can do"...........like even if it is level 3 and not SE, it's still SE's responsibility to give their customers what they payed for or reimburse them. If they just let people pay them for service that barely works or doesn't work thats basically theft, and at a certain point id be certain the federal trade commission would get involved and that would be a bad thing for SE. Also PR wise id imagine when so many people start getting pissed it's about time for SE to find a different ISP or just reimburse people.

    They'll nickel and dime us to hell and back, but they won't invest any more than they have to when it comes to this game. Heck, even sending an email to the ISP, or making a phone call, is below them. I'm not expecting anything to change.
