Ah yes, I thought they got Tetra a bit earlier lol but either way. (And I completely agree)White Mages don't get Tetra until level 60. That being said, I agree with you. By the time people reach level 50 and beat all of the mandatory "Hard" modes post-2.0 story (that includes beating Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan Hard), I expect some competency from players from there.
I usually wouldn't bother posting in this thread even though I've browsed through it from time to time, but I just had an interesting run that I had a good laugh at and thought I'd share.
So, I queued up for leveling on an SCH alt and got, as usual, Sastasha. I don't really mind much and nothing special usually happens. Anyway, it started out fairly typical with me doing what I usually do on a healer: stick close to the tank, DoT everything that the tank pulls, ruin if there's nothing left to DoT, and heal if necessary. Just about every time I got near the tank (mosly to ensure Eos's regen would hit him), he'd take off to pull anything else in range if he could. By the time we were approaching the final boss, he pulled every mob from the previous boss to the gate of the final boss. Being too much for just Eos alone, I tossed in a few Physics and we made it through with no deaths (the archer and Bard were aoeing it up and things were dropping quickly).
Basically, it was a typical and successful speed pull of the place... that is until we actually get into the final boss chamber when the tank says to me: "you wanna tank? go ahead. tank. I'll wait"
At this point, I'm thinking "wait, I'm not the one that pulled all these mobs". But I figure that I'd be better off entertaining that thought rather than waste time arguing with the guy since it is Sastasha after all and the boss doesn't really hit all that hard. I go ahead and apply DoTs, energy burst and ruin, staying just ahead of both DPS in terms of emnity (Physic's potency was probably what helped keep me ahead because I'm sure their DPS could overshadow mine). For the first half of the fight the tank just stands there and I'm laughing pretty hysterically at this point because I'm not only holding the hate and staying alive, the 3 of us together produced enough DPS to phase skip the adds no problem. After taking a moment to realize just how irrelevant he was being to the fight, he finally jumped in and I popped lucid dreaming to let him easily take the hate once he had more than our two DPS (strangely, despite being a WAR, he didn't use provoke).
After we cleared it he then said to me: "learn some patience and not to pull everything you see" which I had another good laugh at. I suppose my subconscious possessed his character and caused him to do massive pulls so that I could test myself as a healer, and I just wasn't aware of it?
I have 3 longterm goals in this game.
1. Max out all classes (getting quite close to being done with the l50 grind)
2. Finish 85% of the combined log (crafting/sightseeing/gathering/hunting)
3. Acquire every Triple Triad card currently (207/236)
Yesterday I did the Lighthouse and none of the tanks seemingly wanted to MT. So I jumped to the call even with being new as most 24mans are fairly straight forward mechanically. I went into this seeking the card, that said, I regrettably flubbed up one of the fights add phase and wiped the raid. The raid however was mostly empathetic and we cleared the rest of the duty no more wipes. There were still many deaths from various alliances but we still got it done. (I feel like many of the trials/duties in SB have meatshield health but whatever)
I got the card however, and with this care the only cards left are in a handful of trials and several dungeons!! So exciting to be close to done with this long term goal.
Last night, I was helping a friend quickly finish up normal Omega so they could get stuff before the weekly reset, finally finishing up on O11N before I had to sleep (they were AST, I was NIN). Load in, everything seems fine, greetings were exchanged, and we went in with no issues.
No issues until the first tank buster went through, that is. The two WARs we had, I dunno what went up, but every time a buster went through, they just crumpled with two cooldowns every time (by the third time this happened, I was checking while auto-piloting dps). I did notice both of them would always be in Deliverance, which I understand is better for the damage, but god if you aren't living even with cooldowns and the healers topping you off beforehand then maybe you should at least go Defiance for a little bit just to survive. Perhaps I'm wrong, I just think in this situation, something needs to be done on both sides.
3 attempts, not once did they change that. Instead they would blame the healers who weren't keeping them topped off (they were, only once were they not and that was because everyone else was dying and focus was super split). After 3 attempts and some chat arguing, everyone ended up leaving and we had to requeue. Thankfully, I ended up tanking out of frustration and my friend got the clear they needed.

So, um what do you do when you run into a person from the forums who've made one of the many "They might not be a Bad player because ___" threads and you're not sure it's them even when they ahh give an excuse they use as an example in their list of why a person might not be bad? I didn't kick them on part of not being sure it was them post the omg I can't believe they actually do this even after almost everyone in the thread said doing so is not cool happened. Also wasn't sure I'd get it to go through either. There was another reason for any mistakes that they gave later and it is one that I'd normally brush off but as it was coming from said person it made me think dang maybe you shouldn't be quing for stuff right now? There were some other nitpicks n play styles that they did that as a person who plays the job they were on as their main that weren't really worth a comment on but just added to the wow factor.
Queued for Sigmascape 1 last night to finish WT/try again for a bolt for the song.
Was a fairly standard run until the MT got caught by a ghost and boarded the side train.
Suddenly I, the WHM, was MT. The other tank never caught on but I furiously healed myself, supplemented by Lustrates and adlos from the adorable Lala SCH co healer, and even some Vercures from the RDM.
At last the MT returned from the sidecar and I actually managed to survive for them to provoke the train off me.
It was odd. And amusing. I wasn't mad. Just one of those runs where I guess the OT was on autopilot.
Unfortunately I was too filled with dread and just too stunned to even consider that. While I've had worse in the vault (had a tank with 50 af war gear try to do a run and do badly while I was healing), this topped my most recent list. You should've kicked that nin the instant you discovered they were that badly undergeared, and if that failed to go through bailed on them right then and there.
Think of tanks as having a reverse queue-- you don't have a queue to get in, you wait in your roulette queues when you ditch unprepared groups.
What's impressive is to reach the Vault, they must have gone through a large chunk of HW, solo duties and all with a lv48 weapon, barely any vit and missing about a half or more of their dps and never noticed something was really wrong.. I mean, I know leveling is easy, but that can't have been easy. Then I checked the nin. She was wearing lvl 50 af gear and 48 weapon. I watched her while avoiding aoes and tanking around mobs; and realized she wasn't even using any aoe, almost no ninjutsu, no shadowfang, no assasinate, just the basic 1-2-3 combo you get pre-30, and she was 57. It filled me with dread.
Scholar is truly the strongest Tank.I usually wouldn't bother posting in this thread even though I've browsed through it from time to time, but I just had an interesting run that I had a good laugh at and thought I'd share.

As a monk, I once had a Dark Knight tell me to stop moving so much in battle, because his job mechanics required me to stand still.
I still have no idea what the hell he was thinking.
