Game development isn't as easy of a lot of us want to assume. WoW developers past and present have been pretty open about the technological hurdles they've had to face in implement new design and new features. There are things they could only implement 5 years later once technology gave them the ability and they could improve the game engine to make use of that technology (even though other newer games were doing it sooner because they had more modern game engines to work with in the first place). There are things they still want to add haven't because they haven't been able to get it to work with the game engine as it currently is. John Staat is getting ready to publish a book on the subject, focused around the original development of WoW but also talking about how those same challenges still exist in modern game development.

Don't assume everything is an excuse because a dev team is too lazy to be bothered. Technology is not omnipotent. Company resources are not unlimited. Choices have to be made about where to allocate development time based what's realistic for the technology they are using.

Unless you're personally developing a game on the scale of a MMORPG and making those things happen yourself, stop assuming it's not happening in the game you're playing due to negligence. By all means, make suggestions for things that would improve the game experience but stop blaming the dev team for being lazy when you don't get them when you want them (if at all).

If you genuinely think they're being lazy and making excuses, then go play another game where the dev team is providing you the things you demand of this one.

I suspect we'd see an increase to the number of glamour plates before we see a housing item added, though.
An increase in plates would definitely be welcome. As someone who loves glamour and considers my house to be my "hub", I have a lot of requests for the glamour dresser. I'm glad they have such a system now, and I would like to see it built upon and improved. More glamour plates, the ability to apply plates anywhere in the world, more space in the chest, and of course a dresser for my home. Other people have different priorities for what they want SE to work on, but for me, this is near the top.

I don't get it. the glamour dresser's data is presumably stored somewhere else, right? the item itself is just a thing you click on to allow you to access that data. when you move the dresser only the path to the final location changes, not the data stored in it itself.

Or at least, that's how it should be.

As a stop-gap measure, they could just add the inn room to FC houses.

    - Go to workshop.
    - Go to your private room.
    - Go to a different private room.
    - Go to guest room (inn room duplicate.)

We still need an inn room at the gold saucer. Even if Fashion Report isn't time consuming anymore it's still 60k+ and I don't want to have to keep porting in and out for it. Besides, all the best casinos have a hotel portion too! Godbert is missing out on some serious gil here.

What he really needs to do is add in a concert stage and book The Primals (though I guess the Event Square stage could be used).

Sure, WoW did it first but I'd much rather listen to The Primals than the Elite Tauren Chieftains.

Please add my vote to both of these ideas, it would make things sooooooooo much more convenient in both cases!

They could add the Glamour Dresser to the workshop for the same effect.

That was my first thought with her as a stop-gap comment, though I really like the idea of having a guest room tied to the FC houses now that I've seen it put out there. I always thought it was awful that if an FC didn't put some sort of beds/ rooms into their house, then someone new to the game didn't have anywhere besides an inn room to sleep. Adding an inn room to FC houses could be a great solution to that.

If people didn't want to have an armoire or find a place for the crystal bell then they could just use the one in the inn room attached to the house. I know of FCs that save slots by not putting in a summoning bell and an FC chest since those are in the workshop. The added inn room could even be like the workshop in that an FC would have to pay x amount of gil to have it added to the house.

The main problem I can see would be that the workshop and FC rooms (so everything from the door at the back of the house currently) let more than 1 person be in them at a time, while an inn room would only allow 1 person in them. So instead of going to a static room like everything else does from that door, you would have to also allow it to generate new identical inn rooms for only 1 person like what happens at the inn.

A better solution might be to create an innkeeper NPC that we can place in our houses (maybe restrict it to FC only, though if it could be for personal use too, I would totally set up an inn/ tavern as a person house). Though it seems like having an NPC that we can move around could cause similar issues to what Yoshida was complaining about with why we can't have a glamour dresser housing item (yet).
