Retainers I can see them not doing this. However, they put some very specific items in the Airships/Subs. I don't see why they wouldn't do it like they would do with Fishing Logs.

I don’t know, airships and subs work nearly identically to retainers.

Airships/subs are passive. You gear up your ship/retainer and send them, and wait for them to come back. They do stuff while you are out playing the game.

Fishing is active play. You are actually in front of the screen using up your play time pushing buttons.

There are many items that are only available from certain retainer ventures (fat cat, ghsthalt, and other minions, some crafting mats / glamour items). The same way certain items are only available from ships.

In addition the devs like to adjust the rewards for both retainer ventures and airships/subs based on a perceived need for certain items in the game. I am pretty sure they have a lot of data about how much of what items are in the world and they adjust the loot tables for these based on perceived need of these items. It’s probably why the new zones are returning stuff like gold ingots/platinum ( needed for newer housing glamours like the castle), hardsilver ore (for colecanth ship parts), etc.

Not having published loot tables / list of items also gives them the freedom to change rewards later as described above. This kind of flexibility is nice for devs to have so they address the market in a simple way.

One other benefit of not having a list is it helps the game to be more social and collaborative. Something SE likes to push for seeing as mmos are a social game. And it works pretty well. Just look at this 45 page, and growing, thread.

Don’t get me wrong. I’d love an in game list of things that come from each zone that could be discovered/unlocked like a fishing list. It would be useful to have, but I just don’t see them going for it.
