Sony Reverses Stance on CrossPlay - Can we get an update on FFXIV for Xbox?

You do realize the main reason no Xbox with this game is because Microsoft has not changed their stance on wanting their own servers right?
No FFXIV on Xbox was never because of Sony....

We’ve also run into an issue with Sony - being able to play cross-platform. That’s another issue that we’d have to take care of as well.

So depending on how things work out with the stance reversal it will be just Microsoft left, whether they will want to waive sub requirement.

When ESO was originally going to be a sub game Xbox said that it wouldn't require it to be Gold, but once it went FTP, then Gold became a requirement. I'm wondering if it was the same for PS4. This is long forgotten and I couldn't even find the article anymore that talked about it because ESO failed as a sub game so they delayed it on Console, and by the time it was released it was FTP...

ESO on PS4 requires PS Plus, however there are FTP games like Star Trek Online on PS4 that don’t require it. The difference with ESO might be that you have to pay for the game itself so it’s not fully FTP while Star Trek Online is free.

ESO on Xbox also requires Gold. But in the end, yes, if Xbox insists on Gold being a requirement that would be a mistake. Hopefully, this gets resolved soon.

I don't really understand what stands in the way of FFXIV and Xbox. Whenever I plugged in my controller on PC, it shows in Xbox buttons instead of PS buttons which makes it clear the game in its current state can work on an Xbox controller without the need for any development resources going that way. I know it's not as simple as pressing the button to upload the game on the Xbox store but I don't see how that keeps a company from bringing its most profitable game of all times to the Xbox. Can someone explains to me why?

The only reason I'm even here right now in FF14 a decade later is because I randomly decided to buy the xbox 360 FF11 wings of the goddess all-in-one pack. Microsoft is making a huge mistake by dragging their feet both in profit and good will towards the FF community. I know the JP weren't happy in FF11 when we came over from 360-no-scope land but I'm assuming FF14 would be a more welcoming community.

If Micros~1 does not allow it then there is no chance to get crossplay on the Xbox.
