This game netcode isn't made for the way you try to solve this mechanic. You see it killed your co-dps too, while it let your other friend survive. You gain half a second uptime by relying on rng server ticks and server/client-side priorities errors.
Technically one aoe hits you but only placed the debuff on you while not getting the 1.5k hit, then the second aoe hits you, dealt 300k because of that. Then it tries to catch up and shows it as that on the clientside. Latency idk. Trying to speed things up and optimize is all good but blaming the engine limits for it is kinda meh. It's a video game, there always gonna be issues like that, which aren't really bugs but limitations.

I'm aware of what is happening and why, doesn't change that it's considered an issue. If anything, to me taking the AoEs seems to be the intended way of solving the mechanics and the big bang is just an emergency measure. Just like with how Abandonment during Virus in O7S got past QA into release even with the huge issues it had, for similar reasons to this. Chances are that they once again tested this in a test environment without having any idea how it's going to act once released. If they are aware of the issues it would cause, don't make the mechanic seem like the obvious solution and then just have it fail due to, to players unknown reasons. Which in that case is severe design oversights.
