Well, since we cant be put in a coma for obvious reasons, SE needs to use the main auxiliary characters to tell the story..... I thought it was a good patch for the MSQ.... far more interesting than 4.1-4.3Yeah the ending pissed me off too. Y'shtola got the best cutscene in the entire expansion (in my opinion) and then is shoved aside. Again.
Why? Why can't she have the limelight? She was shoved aside in SB, now again shoved aside. Let the woman be the snarky badass Conjurer she is and not end up in the infirmary again...
I could gush about how amazing these cutscenes are but I fully agree. It is bewildering how poorly the Scions and her in particiular are handled.Yeah the ending pissed me off too. Y'shtola got the best cutscene in the entire expansion (in my opinion) and then is shoved aside. Again.

Other than being well... us... the WoL is the most boring character in the whole XIV story. I mean they can't help it since apperantly there are not enough resourced to have atleast slightly branching story paths depending upon our decisions. We are more or less a force of nature at this point. Someone we like (signified by a smile and a nod of us) points us into the vague direction of someone evil (here we get a stern expression) and we waddle off to throw ourselves at whatever it is until it drops dead.
Given the recent trend of SE making instances where NPCs are playable, I can't help but wonder if those quests were a means to test the waters for a future arc in which we are incapacitated, making it necessary for other characters to take the reins for a while. The MSQs would be made up of a series of instances like Alphinaud's/Y'shtola's (while we'd still be able to do other content outside of it of course). I realize this could be terribly difficult to implement from both a plot and technical standpoint, and I'm certainly not hoping for them to go down this route, but it feels like they're going to try to make these kinds of instances more frequent.
