It may look good on your character, but I made a character that wouldn't pose that way. For example, look at the male Au Ra emotes or their running animation. They are different. There are none where he would position his hand in such a feminine-elegant way. I don't know how to describe it properly. But it wasn't what I personally had in mind for the character I created.
He wouldn't do that swing when casting Holy or things like that.

I'm not a roleplayer, but when I create a character, I still think a little bit about their personality or how they would behave.

To me (and I'm a girl irl), most of the WHM and AST animations look very feminine.
That is fine, but it doesn't go well with every character unfortunately.

I made as close of a copy of my ffxi character as I could when FFXIV first came out in 2010 and kept him until HW. I then switched to a female elezen just because it is so hard to get a glamour I was happy with as a male. This was never as issue in xi or even v1-arr, but decent male options are just becoming fewer and fewer.

I am, however, always an elf. Ever since I started d&d as just a wee lad, if there is an elf, that is what I play. I did change to hyur, au'ra and miquote for a super short time but changed back within days. I cannot get past the au'ra male run or the way the females legs are awkwardly bent while standing still, miquote all have almost abnormally circular faces and the males have those weird fingers, plus I am a dog person, cats are just jerks and hyurs are either horrifically eyebrowless or just plain and boring imo. Roes are not bad but too bulky for me and lala need to die in a fire, I would never even consider a fanta to one of those lil things.

So back to elezen it was since I can live with a long neck, it looks normal to me at this point.

This is why i use the Stormblood benchmark program, i make my character up looks and how i want her, run the benchmark to see ingame lighting and decide its really helpful.

I'm the same, and it can be really jarring when the character emotes don't line up with your idea for their personality.

It would be nice to have more control over it, but it would probably mean sacrificing visual customisation options.

I fantasia quite often, and most of the time I've been perfectly happy with my choice. Now and then, I have felt like I switched too soon from a particular race, and that's always a slight bummer.

The only time my fantasia has lasted less than a day was when I went Elezen. The second time I tried an Elezen, I think I made it about 2 days. For whatever reason, I just can't make those feel like my character. I think that 2nd Elezen fantasia proved that to me, so at least that particular itch has been scratched :P

I was a known Fantasia Sl*t, before I turned into this arrogant guy. Well, a while after I tried to go female elezen and.. what to say.. it felt so sooooo wrong suddenly, I don't know why. It's weird. After 3 or 4 hours, I changed back.
I don't know what this guy does to me, but its good for my wallet :v

I did have one regret but it was totally my own fault due to forgetfulness on how the game works >_> I came back to the game to spend time with friends for a third time. The second time I came back I made a bunch of changes for an RP scenario that flopped out. I had a fantasia banked that I got from somewhere and when I came back the third time I wanted my normal last name back.

Yeah after using it only then did I remember that fantasias and name changes are two different things >_>

I changed to male au ra for a while and he was great but I was so disoriented by how big he was. Mounts are bigger, the running animation is more powerful. I felt he took up most of my screen and I was zooming out all the time. So impressive and I love their emotes but not for me, I switched back quickly.

I don't like taller characters but I keep getting drawn to them for my alts!!! (Roegadyn, Elezen and male Au Ra) It took so long to get used to the different running pace.

Yeah my Fantasia problem is worse. I’ve only Fantasiad once for a race change, all my other uses have been for little niggling things like one eye color shade to the left or right or one skin tone shade to the left or the right. For some reason I struggle so much mostly with deciding on skin tone that even if I spend a bunch of time in the cc and also make test characters so I can actually see them in game, I’ll often still feel like something isn’t quite right after I’ve used the Fantasia. My charsare settled for now, but eventually I’ll probably again fall down the pit of hmmm coloring seems a bit off...
