So many people keep adding this bit, and I have no earthly idea why. It seems to be projection of one's own beliefs onto the arguments of another, because... I don't see this being brought up the other way around. In either of the current "removal of value" threads.

Especially in this thread though, wherein people are pointing out that the item was still available via the most recent contest.

It's a cooperative game at it's heart, not a competitive one.

If you think hunting in FFXIV is that competitive of a task, since most of the time people wait a bit, create LS or just shout out in every channel they have....

The comment is a direct reference to the official policy: If you spent a couple hours spawning an S Rank, you have no say over anything. Anyone using a third-party tool can immediately detect it, engage it, kill it, and leave you high and dry. If you attempt in any way, shape or form to reset/leash the monster or somehow cause the person to die/lose credit, they can report you for griefing.

The official stance is that hunts are competitive.

I intentionally left out the part where this is a thread dedicated to an item that was obtained through competition.
