There is absolutely no way for you to know that. There is no telling what changes will be made so that it can run smoother on lower end systems and run better on current systems between now and late next year. I'm sure it runs now, but we don't know what changes will be made for the optimization they're capable of. Most games do this: You see a preview a year+ before the release, then at release, you notice a ton of changes. Things happen. Maybe it's lack of skill on the developers end or lack of time.

I doubt the new engine will be less optimized than the current. Therefore by reason, and logic, Jannestia's assumption holds truth. And to try and call her out on it is a little fool-hearty on your own behalf. :s
Especially from what I've been hearing about the Luminous engine, and since the new engine is basically a Crystal Luminous Tools hybrid, I believe it will definitely be optimized (by comparison).

the reason lower end comps will be able to run the game easier will because of zones and greater graphical customization. I dont think the actual graphics will be to different.

The graphics in 2.0 will be of similar quality as today's. However, higher spec machine will be able to display much more at the same time. The graphics in FFXIV are of great quality and will remain considered acceptable (at the very least) for many years to come. I believe that is why they wanted to put such high quality graphic even though it required players to purchase high end computers, to remain competitive graphic-wise in the coming years. One thing we know for sure is that they're going to lower the hardware requirements to play XIV. Is pulling off better graphics with the new specs even possible?
The art direction of 2.0 seems a lot better but by the time 2.0 is out XIV will already be over 2 years old. Will the new tech be enough to woo in new players in a market where the graphics evolve each year? What do you think? SE seems to promise a lot based on that in-game mock-up shot.
However, it is a MMO, comparing the graphic of a MMO with a single player game should not be done.
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)

Why would lowering the system requirements make the graphics worse?
Someone clearly doesn't know how PC games work.

SE has a habit of there graphics being outdated by release so it ws important to them to have graphics that would last this time. they really banked the whole game on graphics which is what let to its demise, ironic. Two examples of outdated graphics were the FF movie which they lost a ton of money on and FF11(i know some people will be like they were the best ever) but even SE said they were outdated compared to other stuff of the time.(ps2 held it back)The graphics in 2.0 will be of similar quality as today's. ? Which Square are we talking about? Seiken Densetsu (especially 3), Chrono Trigger and all of the Final Fantasies certainly weren't using outdated graphics at their release.
Spirit's Within didn't lose money due to "bad graphics" (btw, it wasn't outdated graphics at the time either), nor was FFXI, a 2001 developed game. I think you just really have something against SE in general lol.Two examples of outdated graphics were the FF movie which they lost a ton of money on and FF11

Final Fantasy: Spirits Within didn't bomb because it looked bad, it bombed because a) it wasn't Final Fantasy VII related, and b) it was boring as hell.
Square has always been known for their visuals. While yes, the PS2 did hold back Final Fantasy XI, it was the first platform the game was released on (in Japan), a whopping 4 years prior to the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360. They were pushing for quality graphics at the time, they just aged, which all games do.

He's just leveling his new Disciple of the Land class: Troll. You can level it up by harvesting the 'sweet' spots of other players' enjoyments.
