    Tank that got Tanked

So my husband and i were running double sammy to lvl and we got into dusk vigil. Team layout was as follows, Astro who had never done that run before,Dark knight who thought they knew everything, And us the double samurai team. We load in and hubby is brb for a sec so i let them know, Astro having common sense waits for/with the dps...the tank not so much he ran ahead not once but twice without protect and the healer was smart enough to let him die. hubby comes back and healer pops protect and we proceed, tank then decides to show us how he died by overpulling as much of the first section before the first boss as he could needless to say we wipe. i inform him that we are with someone who has never run this before to which he responds "new to dungeon not to healing" and proceeds to try the same routine all over again. for the healers sake we save him and the stop outside the first boss,i inspect him and ask why a lvl 64 warrior is in non augmented shire gear to which i get a "?" and "this is my main i know what i am doing" i look again and he has at least 4 or 5 lvl 70 classes so i point that out and he calls me a stalker....needless to say we all kicked him as soon as the dungeon would allow it and were blessed with a REAL dark knight mentor who broke down mechanics for the new person and was appropriately geared to be the lvl 70 that he was.

Frontlines roulette as WHM with one other WHM. Some guy marks both of us. I understand why people like to mark healers however I don’t like being singled out or in anyway be made obvious (anxiety) so I remove my mark. The guy remarked me and the cycle continued for a few minutes. Finally I’ve had enough and say “Stop marking me, asshole” (yes I know, what’s done is done though). At this time he told me it’s a requirement for healing in pvp (no it isn’t) and some other thing about melee - think he was trying to say they would know to peel anyone on me but anyone who’s pugged frontlines know dps doesn’t do any peeling lol.

At this point when I removed the mark it was immediately reapplied - there was literally no wait time, he was sitting there with the mark box open like a petulant child. Put up a vote kick for harasssment and it went through. Bye guy, next time someone tells you to stop be an adult and respect others you’re playing with. I know, pot meet kettle.

They buffed the XP rewards though, and the poetics. so if you're still leveling any jobs.. can't beat the MSQ roulette. The XP is rather ridiculous, and if you get a newbie in there with you, it's 500 poetics which is not small by any means.

And if you have any other classes youre more comfortable as, you can run raids(sigma/ivalice) as your comfortable class and select gear for the one you need.
Ah, my mind went straight to poetics (for Shire gear) when they mentioned gearing up and difficulties in 60+ dungeons. I didn't even think of the Lv70 tomes. Now I'm not sure whether I was on the right track or not.

    Two horror stories from yesterday:

Ex Roulette leading to Hell's Lid: immediately after landing the tank complains that he hates the dungeon, that he has no time for it and asks that we should kick him. We ignore him, he starts pulling and spams chat with messages "why are you hating me ?". Explaining to him that he can leave anytime he wont leaves to more spam and messages "you are forcing me to do that". Tank continues to pull small (if he really wants to drag this out ....) and letting aggro drop on bosses (a stupid move). We are not kicking him ... one of the most miserable DF runs in a long time.

Leveling roulette leading to Sastasha (hard): tanks pulls the mobs and I noticed that healer (AST) spamming Aspected Helios. Weird, but it's his MP he is burning. At the first boss (where the healer has to purge the DoT) he still only casts this (and he is in Nocturnal). Still no Esuna, even after a few messages in chat. A few wipes later and this is the first time I had to kick a healer ... I really don't want to know how he reached level 50 with a healer with those skills ...

I don't think you can get Sastasha HM in Leveling roulette and if you're running 50/60 roulette for exp purposes you're generally better off just queuing for an appropriately leveled dungeon instead as the bonus on that one is quite poor and you don't get much for the enemies once you outpace the dungeon. Getting a 50 dungeon when you're 60 or above is more or less just for the Poetics in my experience.

Still, sounds like that healer had it coming. If you aren't going to bother coming to a dungeon prepared for the incoming mechanics the least you could do is read your chat window...

FYI, I would have rejected that vote kick and then moved to vote kick you, it just happened to work out for you that time that you were playing with ppl that had no intention of winning a match.

I'd rather not have a dead weight healer in PvP giving false confidence to the group. With two healers the mindset should be be that the the party can be far more aggressive in fighting other teams. Player kills add up and can quickly become the deciding factor in winning a match (keep in mind that player deaths also negatively impact the score). Marking the healer, for PvP minded players, is incredibly helpful for two reasons. It allows players to quickly find and defend the healer, and it also gives players a destination to beeline if they are getting attacked... While that sounds simple, "hurrdurr run towards the healer," when in retreat mode a player also needs to avoid doing things that will interrupt the healers' casts... which can occur sometimes when crossing over the healer or accidentally causing the healer to lose line of sight by running behind an object. Having that nice big mark available in the peripheral vision is helpful to create quick awareness of the healers' positions and avoid those mistakes on the fly.

Alright, so, it seems if I join a match in PvP and I run into someone like that, I would need to get them vote kicked ASAP and also blacklist them after the duty is over. And since I'm extremely likely to heal, I'll make sure there's a nice big mark on me BEFORE the barrier drops, if I ever go into PvP. Appreciate the insight, as PvP is something I have never done.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

I've seen at least one red mage sink to their doom. Just happily casting jolt, sinking. Then get resurrected and stand where the lake widens to.
    And then sink again.

From what I can recall, we used to have to pull the skeletons to the ends of the platform chains (as far away from the boss as possible) and kill them there. One skellyman per platform. And then kill them again once they're revived and start sprinting to the boss. This because the skeletons get a big speed boost if they revive close to each other, and back then we needed all the time available just to kill them before they would reach the boss and blast out those big raid-wide attacks.
Nowadays the damage we deal is so high and our health pools so big that we can usually kill the skellies in time even with the speed boost, and survive the AoEs of the ones that get through anyways.
