Au Ra Summoner / Scholar

Is this a viable class race combo ?
Ive been playing ACN for a few days and love it, in other mmos ive been mainly a healer so eventually ill be main scholar I think,
Anywho would an Au Ra be ok at this role or do I really have to pick the midget race ?

The differing stats between races are negligible in terms of importance; they don't matter at all. Any race can play any job.

So Race is purely cosmetic ?? Why do they show starting stats ?? Sorry as i said i come from other mmos where starting stats are normally somewhat important

Racial differences account for only a span of 5 points between the lowest and highest races' int scores, out of about 2870 at current max gear.

Incidentally, the popotos aren't the smartest folk in Eorzea. They're a point behind the midlanders and the duskwights.
One of the popoto clans ties with the keepers and the raen for highest mind rating.

It's enough of a difference to define a typical personality for each race, without meaning anything mechanically.

I mean, 5 points was meaningful for a while. At level 10 those 5 points are like half the bonus you get from your equipment(so you have 150% more then that other guy). At level 40 those 5 points are the equivalent of you equiping an extra necklace or earing even though you only have one slot for each. At level 70 you probly cant tell the difference between 5 points and statistical noise(note: i have not done hours of field testing to prove or disprove this, but it sure feels like a 0.2% difference wouldnt be noticable). Then again, theres a potion you can use to freely change races and you can unlock every class on any character so it was probly in their best interest to make all the combinations roughly equal.

as most said, ita bearly noticeable past really 70+ , it isnt like XI where races did matter/had significant bonuses over others for certain jobs, TBH, you can begin to ignore those stats at about 30+ because gear and food is going make it almost an invisible difference,
