I agree that SE is making a mistake by charging but don't waste your time with that opinion this forum is run by the same 25 white knights full time like a job.

It's not that. It's more of the fact that people keep on voicing the OP's opinion over and over, when unfortunately, it's not going to change. Billing is coming, so it's time to deal with it or move on. The opinion isn't a "waste of time" because of "white knights", it's a waste of time because SE has made their decision.
Okay, time to close the shop then. They aren't going to pay the upkeep fees and neither will you it seems, so let's cancel the service. That will make everyone happy.
Having a different opinion on an issue is ok. I know this is hard for some people on here to be adults about that idea but you can think its ok to charge now and someone else can feel that its not right and 100 shades in-between. Why is it so hard for you guys to get that?
The right answer exists. You can hide behind the "all opinions are equal" card but the fact is that there are good and bad solutions to the problem.Having a different opinion on an issue is ok. SE isn't obliged to fund server upkeep for those who play this game as if it were a good one. Some people would rather pay for the service than see it go away unfunded. The solution is quite clear.
Sure but people can agree or disagree on when the right time is to do this. I for one do not think just after a tiny no-content update is the best time. I would have done it with the next update that has more content and the New jobs. Once again thats just my opinion. (I understand if you think i'm playing somesort of a "Card" after all you have 2,674 more posts on here than myself so im sure you have some sort of theorycraft to decide just about anything in this "irrelevant community website" ^^)The right answer exists. It's a good thing making the decision on when to sub is up to you.
The fact is that soon people will have played this game for free for 15 months. They played even during the drought of the beginning of the year. Two months is nothing in comparison.
They have played this game and not without finding some sort of satisfaction in some form or another. It's not like they were helping this game during that time. Now the debt has been repaid, and the people who want the service to stay online need to participate in it's funding.
To say that 15 months is not enough free months, your argument needs to be rock-solid. Just saying.
This is a video game not a Job no argument needs to be rock-solid here. But I do think that my logic for starting to charge on a real content update has merrit. I think this is a real good topic. Trust me if SE was great at making choices without imput they would not be in the endless messes they have been in for the past few years. It's a good thing making the decision on when to sub is up to you.

I agree with your sentiment 100%. This is just going to make my server a bigger ghost town. This patch offers little to nothing as far as content goes for those like me that have been around since day 1. They want us to now pay hence forward for a game patch that should have been incorporated into the game from the very start? They continually make very bad decisions and judgements, I am really worried about the future of this game.Sure but people can agree or disagree on when the right time is to do this. I find this to a point unacceptable in the fact that Square Enix, released a game 15 months ago that was incomplete. This desicion alone was a major mistake on their part. SE has since stated that they need to rebuild the game, and it will relaunch next year for the PC and the PS3 version will soon follow. Now players (not all) dont want to pay to play. I understand both views but instead of complaining about those who will or will not pay, maybe all the players both who will and wont look at who is responsible for this game and let those people know that what they did was unacceptable. Now thwe big question is HOW or WHAT is acceptable? Maybe instead of charging 9.99 per month or 30.00 for 6 months they lower the pay to play fee to say 5.00 no adding in an extra 3.00 for this or that. Now once the ffxiv 2.0 is ready and is launched every gets the same 30 days free, after that the fee would be 12.99 per month, and of course the discount if you pay for the game for a few extra months. This is only my opinion but in fact it would most likely entice those that dont want to pay to play at 9.99 a month etc to actually stay. As it stands now some servers have hardly anyone on and trying to form a party is a chore in itself. Now some have said lets do as server merger, well that shouldnt be done either. See once 2.0 is released we will have lots of people on very few servers, and those that are gonna start playing via there PS3 will find there servers empty. On top of that you will have all the PC player who started playing before the PS3 version launch and they will all be on a few servers. This in itself will create the same issue we have now with server populations. I personally dont want SE tell me or forcing me when 2.0 launches to go to another server, that would be very unacceptable. I have no problem paying to play so its not an issue.
