'Might certainly be an interesting element o.o
Given their lack of concern about language and suggestive content I certainly don't think we'd be looking at serious ratings implications either.

Sometimes, after reading the forums, I feel as if I could use a stiff drink.

Very true! Many NPCs use very colorful language, and promote (especially in Ul'dah) bedding others. It's stuff like that which I admit I like about FFXIV, it feels a bit more realistic than when I played FFXI. Great game but it felt too kid-friendly compared to FFXIV. We've seen even NPCs getting drunk (There's at least two Roegadyn I can recall that are drunk off their butts.) and if you've done the main storyline with a Miqo'te as your companion... Need I say more? I still don't believe allowing our characters to get drunk of experience drunken effects would affect their rating too much. If they made it so you sway as you walk/run with a blurred screen it'd likely be enough to pass without a need for a rating increase.
Now if they add incentives to get drunk beyond cosmetic effects like stat bonuses that would actively promote the use of alcohol then it could be a problem.

Due to some EU and Australian laws, if its fun irl, we can't do it in game! Gambling, EFF NO (ruined pokémon even further, you won't change up the game and you took away the only joy in it due to australia!) Drinking, NO NO NO. Haha I don't get it, I thought they were supposedly more mature than us Americans, and could handle adult content better, I mean video games don't raise kids, unless parents let them.
My mom let video games raise me and I turned out fine. [citation needed].Due to some EU and Australian laws, if its fun irl, we can't do it in game! Except for the part where I'm refreshing a gaming website at 2:00AM instead of studying for my American Political Thought final tomorrow. But I don't fault her for that.

My free month playing WoW near its release I remember everyone outside of one of the towns were drinking, talking funny and dancing everywhere. it must of been 100 people. It was fun.
and like people have said there is a lot more mature things already in game than a blurry screen
