Guessing Derplander's job next expansion.

My guess would be Summoner/Scholar. We are headed to Garlemald, and they are all about Primal "hate". Alphinaud went ahead as our emissary. Alphi is an Arcanist, but it's possible he could be upgraded to a Summoner or Scholar.

I also think that Alphi is likely to go from a class to a job, but I think it will have to do with one of the new jobs. Also I think Alphi is more likely to go healer and I really hope that in the opening also the WoL will be featuring a healer role this time.

This is my speculation:

Among tank, dps and healer, I think the healer role will suit Alphi better for how his very own character is portrayed: resorting to violence is never his first option and he rather prefers to avoid fighting whenever it's possible. So I think a dps role won't suit him.

A tank role won't suit him neither as by his own admission physical strength and stamina aren't his strong points.

On the other hand a healer primary role is to help and support the group, but can resort to fighting when needed. I think a healer role will match perfectly with both his character and his role as emissary/ ambassador.

(I don't know 1.0 story very well, but was Louisoix also a healer...?)

To support of this, during 4.0-4.x MSQ, he repeatedly performs healing action on other characters during cutscenes.


*spoilers* (3.4 ~ 4.x)

1) When Rhalgr's Reach is attacked by Zenos (beginning of 4.0) and Y'stola and Conrad are wounded, he casts healing magic on Conrad;
2) When Alisaie is wounded by Fordola at Castrum Abania, he casts healing magic on her soon after;
3) In the recent instanced duty where we get to play as him, we heal a wounded Garlean soldier roughly at the beginning of the instance.

Plus, his Moonstone Carbuncle "Shining Moonstone" ability is clearly a healer ability, healing by several HP anyone who stands inside of the blue AoE in the moment it is casted and granting a buff if you walk/stand inside the AoE area.

Alisaie changed class, going from Arcanist to Red Mage, in patch 3.4, so 4.4 would be the perfect timing for Alphi to go from Arcanist to "unknown-healer-class". (If they would call it "Blue Mage" it would be just more perfect. Since Alphi and Alisaie are like two sides of the same coin, healing is the opposite of dpsing......I suppose? :P)

So if healers and healing magic were going to be a theme in 5.0, we could get to show Garleans a type of magic that's not an offensive one, but a healing one. This could help them to see magic not only as a threat but also as something good I guess.

As for the 2nd job, I also think it will be Machinist or a new "gunblade" job, something that is Garlean/technology related anyway.

Exactly this. I suspect that there could be some "duality with his twin" in how he will evolves into a job so that he becomes the "Blue Mage" (opposite to his sisters Red Mage job).

And yes, in response to your question... our legendary Louisoix was indeed a Conjurer healer.

Yoshi P talked about having a FF14 original Job for one of the next ones so I would place money on that being a Derplander one if it does exist. Since we are going to Garlemald, A garlean style Job makes a lot of sense. With the style of armor they favour, maybe a tank class. A gunblade is an obvious weapon but personally I kind of hope it is something like a Gunhammer instead. We have a lot of bladed classes in the game, including no less than 3 sword wielding jobs and a bit more variety would be nice.

It might be an "original job" but you could argue that Astrologian was "Original" but it's really just a healing time mage. I doubt there will be anything original in scope that would break the tradition of what people expect in the game.

Okay, so my recently-made alt may have just spent literally all his gil on glamour. To the point of not being able to afford to teleport. But it was on sale! It was a good deal, I swear!
