Rising Event

I just woke up to find out I missed the NPC. Random spawn times for 3 hour intervals on NA servers?! Mind you, three hour intervals that aren’t even prime time for the east coast... 12am to 3am EST? You have absolutely got to be kidding me, SE.

Are they the same time each night? Because at least then I can try to stay up for them. But if they are random... YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. What an absolutely horrible way to handle a seasonal event a bunch of people were looking forward to.

Some may think I’m overreacting, but I absolutely cannot express my disappointment in this event. I don’t have all day anymore to sit around and play and wait now that school has started and I have responsibilities again. And I know of others that have jobs and cannot always be online either. Just... very disappointed. This should not have been a thing, and if the event was only going to be held during specific windows for specific servers/regions, it should have been disclosed beforehand so that people 1. Wouldn’t have wasted a day standing around and waiting, and 2. Could have worked out a way to find time to participate.

Or, you know. The same argument that is tossed around on "easy content". Make it available through different venues, those repeatable quests (that every event usually has that this one is missing) so people could do that instead of the instance. Maybe 3 daily quests like beast tribes.

I don't post here often either. I usually look forward to the Rising but this time kinda is ruining that since there was no hint or schedule of the recruiter. Good job with help GMs.

lol... it finally popped last night on Hyperion at 11pm CST.

I didn't realize it was only going to be available at limited intervals though... that's nuts.

Fortunately I got enough FATEs done on 2/8 characters... but it's going to be annoying to get the rest of them done I suppose, since I'll have to regularly check for the Recruiter now.

So, thinking about this, my only reasoning that SE has decided to place entry restrictions is this:

Their game has proven that it can't handle massive amounts of people in the instance servers so they staggered the ability to enter into them.

Basically rotate giving each data center a 3 hour window to get in.

This leads to the basic question: Why in the heck did SE decide to use instance servers for the limited time event, knowing they can't handle the massive crowds?

WHY DO THEY KEEP ADDING INSTANCED CONTENT WHEN THEY CAN'T DO IT?

The instance finally started on Elemental server at GMT 12:00 - two hours ago and nine hours after the event went live. The recruiter is currently still there.

I couldn’t actually see the recruiter load in because there were so many people, but guessed he was there because I could see people gathering around him. There’s no quest marker on the map, unless it was only there before I did it.

The instance is data-centre wide and involves a sequence of five FATEs. You may enter an instance that is nearly finished when you arrive, but you can stay in there after the end and do it again.


I was hoping for something with a bit more atmosphere and less nonstop hitting things. I don’t feel like I’ve gotten any insight into the Calamity from it.
