    Thing is that in Louhi's other Final Fantasy appearance (Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light) was a female and a queen like in the source material. Which is way it makes me wonder if this is a translation mistake.

    You are correct that you, can't expect every English speaker to know hiragana and katakana, but I'm curious, what resource sites say this? It's not on the wiki, what others are there?

    Its on the Final Fantasy wikia page for Shiva. Although the page has been updated since i last read it two years ago, it still mentions the "shiver" naming idea, as well as quite a few YouTube channels.
