Please can you demonstrate where you got this information from?
Before 4.2 the housing information has always said that the requirements were per character, not per account.
Or are you mixing this up with their dislike of people reselling housing?
Not the right idea guys. Can we push for expanded apartments, workshop availability for homeless FCs, or even Ward alternatives like a form or instanced housing?
I get it that some multi-plot owners just rub folks the wrong way but taking their stuff really won't magically make the system work. We should push for long term helpful changes and not short term gain.
I don't have any problem with players being grandfathered in tbh.
I don't like that players are still taking advantage of loopholes and blatantly working around restrictions and then coming to the forums to brag about it. Personally, I'd like to see a gm post on this subject detailing what is punishable, and if any restrictions have been lifted and why. Because if there are no longer any restrictions to how many fc houses a single account can own per server, I don't think that's fair to the average person who doesn't abuse the system, who likely works trying for just one but comes up empty handed every time while others are so willing to cheat any chance they get. I can understand the complications of only allowing an account access to a single fc with housing per server, and I'd honestly be okay with multiple fc houses being allowed as long as there was a cap of two or three. but IMO this allowing hoarders to run rampant both in game and on the forums needs to be addressed.

Why is this still a conversation. If you're on a small server, this doesn't even matter, and if you're on a full server, the miniscule amount of houses this would open up would be gone in a day. The 'solution' will be more houses, which will still not satisfy every personal house demand(hopefully it'll take care of some of the outlier FCs by giving them first grab like last time), but clearly there will not be enough for a personal for everyone. Since the major complaint appears to be server space, an infinitely scaling system of individual houses probably wouldn't be a solution anyway, and frankly, I like wards. Housing isn't that interesting if no one is able to randomly pop in and say hello. (Like and leave a message plox).
I have one extra house - I was grandfathered in. I use it regularly for RP on the character that owns it.
Most of the folks trying to defend those of us with extra homes don't speak for me, and I can understand the frustration of others. I find this conversation exhausting from both sides, tbh.
It's a broken system. Less broken than it used to be, but still broken. The apartment system needs to be expanded into something other than overly expensive FC rooms. If we could upgrade apartments into bigger and more viably useful spaces, I'd give up my second home for someone else in a heartbeat - having a yard is nice, but I rarely use it.
The problem is, it opens the door for them to do this with other things. It sets a precedent for them to be able to do this kind of thing again, to anything. People did not break the rules, so they should not be punished. That is why they were grandfathered in. To go back on that now does not paint SE in a good light, and it will 100% effect more than just the multi-home owners. I have 1 house on my account (I don't own my fc, so I do not count that one), and I fully think that it would be a bad move for them to remove houses from people that obtained them before the new system. After the new system was put in? By all means, do what you want there. It really wouldn't. While poorly implemented, they have outright stated numerous times they never intended for players to have multiple houses. Furthermore, you'd piss off less than a 100 people while making many more happy. Someone with twelve houses may throw a fit and quit, but that opens up twelve houses to other players. It wouldn't hurt their business in the slightest.
I stand by what I said. People need to stop looking at each other as the problem, and start looking at SE and demanding that housing stop being a pointlessly finite resource.
QFT. Grandfathering is important because it means nobody will be punished for breaking rules that didn't exist when they committed actions that would be considered in violation of those rules. It's about more than housing, it's about player trust. There's no reason to punish grandfathered players as long as they did not continue to obtain additional houses after the new per account per world rules went into effect. They did nothing wrong because at the time they purchased, the rules were per character.
The ones that need to be punished are those who exploited the system to obtain additional houses beyond the new limit after the new rules went into effect. They're the ones generating this drama.
In the meantime, there are worlds like Coeurl that still have several hundred smalls if not also mediums available. If someone wants a house that bad, they're waiting for you. This applies to those who want multiple houses as well if they don't have a house on those worlds already. It just takes creating or transferring a character. As long as housing remains available on the low pop worlds, SE is unlikely to address the issue on the high pop worlds.
Again, there hasn't been any ongoing restrictions regarding how many newly purchased FC houses you can have on a single service account. The limitation lasted two weeks.
So i have multiple houses on my other service account, why would I been punished for following rules?
Also, while I can only speak for my own server, there is 100+ houses still available, while not larges there is lot of medium and smalls.
