I thought Padjali where born that way but just stopped ageing early onThose aren't dragons, they're called Padjali and they're basically just destined caretakers of the Twelveswood chosen by the Elementals to be their voice when the beings can't speak themselves. Their horns aren't given to them until they're chosen and it basically halts their natural aging which is the reason Kanne looks way younger than she probably really is.
The only dragon people in XIV are the Dravanians themselves which....we'll never get as a playable race because they're actually full bodied and blooded dragons.
Hmm, that's also possible, come to think of it considering certain quests. But, it definitely has to do with the person or child in question already having that lineage within their family I think too.
Still, considering their status within the Twelveswood as holy seers and speakers for the woods, I kind of doubt SE giving them to us as a race simply because that would put us on a level with Kanne.
I know this is all off-topic, but let me just state for the record that if you follow the lvl 60-70 white mage quest "spoilers" give you enough detail to know that indeed, children are sort of... born that way? But sort of not? They are definitely chosen by the elementals, and it's definitely not a bloodline thing though. Yeah!Hmm, that's also possible, come to think of it considering certain quests. On topic however, and as the person that started the thread, let me just say I never expected this to gain such traction - and to still be going.
I'd like to state my opinion if I hadn't already, which is the fact that I personally would probably not play Lupin. The reason why I suggested it was because I know many people had been looking for a beast-folk race, and they fit the bill when it comes to being sentient, sapient, non-believing in primal deities and fully capable of wearing clothes and armor. They also fully integrated Doman society, which made me believe if there ever was an easy way to make a race playable, this would be it.
When it comes to what I, personally, would like? That would be the Viera. But that's me and my bias, and that's not what this thread was about.
This thread was for people discussing why the Lupin could / should be playable, and for the people that disagree to state why they think so. Based on story, lore or world-building elements, and not just because "I don't like dog-men" or "I don't want to be a dog-man".

"You have a heart of gold. Don't let them take it from you!"
I say combine the ninja turtle race with lupins to make a hybrid race . Also, why can’t we have half races in this game?
Thank you Odstarva! People seem to think having A wil stop them to have B.
About hybrids... we know they exist at least between hyurs and elezens. Not sure about other combinations.
I wouldn't mind if they add the Lupin, but make them look like the selkie from FF crystal chronicles. Add some wolf features and chest hair to males make them different lol.

just gonna slide this back to page 1 so people can flail about what might be in 5.0
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun
Seeing how the new Hildibrand quest line is going in Stormblood, it leads me to believe that Lupin is going to become the next playable race. There is slight more expression though it may be due to it being the Hildibrand side story but still it is showing that dev team is playing with the facial structure of the Lupin.
Game on!!!
Viera thread gets bumped so lupin get bumped :P got to share love for the other best race :P

Now that you said it... yeah, the thief had a lot more facial animation than Hakuro.Seeing how the new Hildibrand quest line is going in Stormblood, it leads me to believe that Lupin is going to become the next playable race. I dig it.
