I hate the cutscenes so much I just don't bother queueing for that roulette anymore. I cut an entire portion of the game out just to not deal with it. I can do treasure maps to make up the measly 50 tomestones (though I honestly have no problem capping each week without much effort). As a healer though? This makes queues longer for everyone involved. Especially if other healers and tanks are doing the same. I feel bad for doing it to new players who had nothing to do with the god-awful thought process of these dungeons, but they'd have to move heaven and earth to make me desire to go in there and to deal with unskippable cutscenes.

Nothing against new people, but I just do not have the time to waste re-watching cutscenes that were sort of shitballed the first time around anyway. That whole story arc was less than impressive, and frankly a total slog. I hated every second of it x.x

I get some people are interested in it, and that's cool, I don't mind cutscenes in dungeons, but those are by far the worst due to the length of cutscene and Frequency of them. It's just not worth my time, and that's how I speak with my playtime. if people stop doing those dungeons, leaving newbies wanting, they will find a DIFFERENT way to resolve it. It sucks for new folks, but I mean...if you give an inch with bad fixes, they'll take a mile. This isn't the only game to do it either, this isn't bashing the company, it's just an industry lazy standard.

Just have youtube or netflix open in the mean time on your second monitor or your mobile devices and watch those while the cutscenes are playing. I have all the battle jobs at 70 and I am so glad I never have to run this roulette again until 5.0

I imagine this would have never happened if people had taken your option and just not run it, but that isn't what happened, it's never been what happened. SE saw the issue being "Older players are either forcing newbies to skip cutscenes, kicking them, or just rushing ahead and leaving the newbie to miss fights" and built a way to fix that.

There is a faster way than force quitting the game. Won't go into specifics but some people just modified the cutscene files on their computer and are able to skip them the way it used to work. I feel that leveling is very fast in this game and people needn't go to those lengths to save time. Just have some coffee while the old cinematics play.

Egh. If people had taken that option, SE would have thrown rewards at people until they DO run it, because people not running the roulette isn't an option on the grand scale either, as new players need bodies to get through that part.

It's just bad design and they didn't feel like investing a lot of effort into fixing it. That's all there is to it. As far as story is concerned, the ideal way is always to allow people to go at their own pace and that means to not have other people around to interfere with your pace in the first place.

That is kinda sad, if you don't want to watch the cutscenes just don't run the content there's plenty of other ways to get the stones/experience.

That's basically what happened already, they upped the awards when the change was introduced, and then upped it again after a while, the latter change coming alongside Yoshi admitting in a live letter the data they were seeing wasn't satisfactory.

AFAIK He also said recently they are thinking about trimming a bit of the ARR MSQ, we can only hope

Yeah, he did, in a live letter or something, I remember watching that. Here's to hoping that if they'll already revisit that area, they'll take care of this, too. Then just take care of this the one time instead of constantly checking the data and tweaking things, and I can only imagine how much overhead goes into that process

That's quite expected though. They pretty much showed the more experienced players a middle finger all the while trying to bribe them with rewards that, if you cut out the cutscenes, are very tempting. Going so far as to modify the client (which is very, very much against the ToS) is too far, but it's not like it's not normal or expected.

Square Enix is the one entirely at fault here. They want to get a constant stream of revenue, but hardly ever take responsibility for it. Can you imagine a situation in which you buy a car for 10000$ straight from a dealer but when you're trying to drive it out the gearbox just gets stuck because of a critical factory fault?! Now imagine that dealer and the maker of the car saying "tough luck, you bought it as it is, instead we'll have a tow truck get the car into your garage and deal with it yourself". This is what Square Enix did. They provided a broken content but don't want to fix it.
