It's not really going to happen. The only circumstances in which special statues, items or whatever is when someone taking part in the development dies, as happened to WoW and they put a memorial to him in the game, or a very long-time staff member that was loved by all either dies or leaves, seen a game where developers put up a statue in one of the cities for a community manager that resigned after being there for 6 years. Or players that became memes, see Leeroy Jenkins, famous players that have changed the entire playerbase etc.

But for a random player that had no significant impact on the game and it's community? Never going to happen, your best bet would be to put up a painting of his favorite place in your house, or some decorations he really liked that remind you of him.

Another reason why this isn't going to happen is because they already denied dozens of these requests, accepting one would mean either accepting all of them, which is certainly not possible, or playing favorites, which is going to generate a huge backlash.

Blizzard has also done a number of Make-A-Wish requests, and a good number of memorials in WoW are placed to regular players who had passed away.

From Square-Enix, it just won't happen given that unlike companies like Blizzard, SE can come off as almost outstandingly impersonal at times. Whether it's the individual viewpoint of the company or some greater aspect of Japanese culture of "business being business", I sadly don't know. It's quite unfortunate since I believe that's probably the biggest thing ruining the game for me.
