I've used it recently, you have to use the oriental table first, then put a stool under them, from what I've found.

Ahh. that worked. That's so weird though, because I know I've done this in the past with different furniture. Do you know anything else that I can glitch it from to change the height?

I currently have not found anything else, which is weird because I can't understand why one tabletop works but not another!
