Nope, and the Euro and Japan Fanfest's will continue to be better.
You know what I just noticed? They said that they only got 500 people that bought tickets in that time..but if its really people than this doesnt mean that its just 500 tickets but 500-2000 tickets. (Because one person could buy up to 4 tickets and since they said people and not tickets..)And how did they even check that all of those were alright? (Especially since the name lock was only later)
Still I really really hope that they learn from this and just as feedback: No lottery system please. Just try to get a better grasps on the amount of tickets you need (surveys for example can help) and then maybe also dont have such a big sub time to get the access code.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I did read the other comments, which is why I bothered to weigh in - because it was clear you were still missing the overall point. The point is the issues you raised in your posts prior to my initial response all didn't really have to be an issue. No one needed $1600 cash on hand to buy fanfest tickets. They just need a credit card with at least that much free in balance. Or if they wanna roll debit only, they could have used free digital services like PayPal or Venmo to pool money. Geographic distance is also irrelevant b/c again, the internet. I realize this may sound flippant, but that really isn't my intention, so I apologize if it comes across harsh.again please at least read up before responding, it saves you SO much time <3 I wasn't being dismissive about anything, if anything just noting that one persons tone on how they couldn't possibly fathom why anyone would not think in " X " sense was silly was not an absolute thing that should be. I can understand you thinking this if you only read the last comment, but given as I already explained the whole thing in comments after, I'd like to ask you back why you're ignoring it of if you simply saw that and quoted before reading further or back ( if possible ).
Now the new points you brought up, about varying levels of trust etc., are valid. That wasn't brought up until after though. In your comment that I replied to, you were dismissing someone's rebuttal of some assumptions you made in your previous statement. They made a valid point and you chose to respond sarcastically and offer a different reason/excuse instead of responding to the original point. I think you're not realizing the many assumptions you're making, both in those earlier comments and in your latest reply. And you know, hey that is 100% ok, I'm not here to judge. It's just that's why I chose to respond - not to say what anyone did was stupid, but simply pointing out reasons why these perceived obstacles were not actually barriers, so that anyone who got caught in this situation can overcome/succeed next time.
Top it all off, no queues whatsoever to deal with (I didn't have a code but I was eligible and Square Enix James, whom I owe a drink if he sees this, noticed I was eligible and hooked me up with a code nice and quickly), only bummer is that Eventbrite don't support PayPal (but apparently I haven't been charged a conversion fee by my bank from £ to €, usually there's a £17 conversion fee, yes, £17 even for say a $4.99 purchase). Parents are also planning a holiday to Paris during the event timeframe so I won't be on my own. I don't wanna fly because last time I flew out to a place (Florida), I puked 5 times on the flight... but parents will only fly there, so gonna have to put up with it. Least I can fly from my local airport and not have to do a decent amount of travel.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
Amazing - the EU organizers seem to have actually estimated demand properly and also managed the ticket sale properly, including having a presale for current players, without any site meltdowns, botching the code system, or having people in the queue not get tickets. In contrast, the 2014 NA fanfest had a ticket meltdown and merch line HM, while 2016 NA fanfest had merch line savage where people wasted up to 16 hours and still didn't get lore books, and the 2018 NA fanfest had another ticket mess.
Is there any word on whether there will be merch preorders for the 2018 NA fanfest?
Having another Merch Line Savage would be such a terrible idea.
edit: YES! Finally found the other thread (which wasn't coming up on search oddly.) Preorders, thank goodness!!![]()

Apparently there will be! So they at least seemed to got this (idea) right!Greetings,
Thanks for the comments and feedback you've been providing regarding the Fan Festival merchandise experience from previous events! I also want to assure you that we're very aware of your comments and working hard to improve the experience for everyone attending the Fan Festival in Las Vegas. While I can't share too many details right now, I can confirm that we'll have a pre-order program that will allow attendees to purchase merchandise ahead of time.
We'll be sure to share the full details as we get closer to the event, so please hang tight a bit longer!
...kinda very happy to be living in germany and getting tickets for Paris without problems yesterday...
Damn ! I should have bought tickets to resell them xD
I thinik it's mostly due to the space allowed in la Villette. Compared to others halls in Europe or in the World, it's not THAT big. Not sure Paris was a good idea for such a big event, we do not really have big places affordable in that citiy, they should have looked some place else :/
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
