You may want something more like the Death Knights in WoW.

I for one enjoy the Dark Knight as it is now. WE call upon our conviction to wield voidal magicks for the sake of those we want to protect, regardless of the perceptions of others or laws twisted to protect monsters who take advantage of the powerless.

Recall the lore behind the job...
The pious Ishgardian clergy guide the flock, and the devout knights protect the weak. Yet even the holiest of men succumb to the darkest of temptations. None dare to administer justice to these sacrosanct elite residing outside the reach of the law. Who, then, defends the feeble from the transgressions of those meant to guide and protect them? A valiant few take up arms to defend the downtrodden, and not even the holy priests and knights can escape their judgement. Pariahs in their own land, they are known by many as “dark knights”.

In the year 960 of the Sixth Astral Era, a commoner by the name of Tryphaniel the Unshod was granted knighthood for acts of valour upon the battlefield. A young man with an unwavering sense of justice, Tyrphaniel’s desire to champion the cause of the lowborn was undiluted by his entrance into the privileged world of the nobility. It was this same moral fortitude that bid him trail after clergyman after witnessing the robed figure drag a squirming child from the alleys of the Brume. The knight’s suspicions were confirmed when he entered the secluded domicile of the priest only to find him committing unspeakable acts upon the body of the abducted waif. Noticing his unexpected visitor, the clergyman attempted to explain away his vile actions as a form of “exorcism”, but the incensed Tryphaniel drew his sword without hesitation, and answered the babbled excuses with a single, fatal blow.

Rather than praise his heroism, however, the knight’s peers condemned him for slaying a holy member of the church. He was forced to defend his life in a trial by combat, but though he survived, it was decreed that he would be stripped of his knighthood. Unflinching in the face of accusations that he had fallen to darkness, Tryphaniel roared that he would gladly surrender a title that required him to turn a blind eye to a child’s suffering. He cast aside his crested shield - the symbol of his station - and continued his crusade for the commonfolk with no thought or fear for what others held taboo. His righteous deeds inspired some courageous few to embrace the path of the forbidden, and thus the legacy of the dark knight was born.

We are not Necromancers, we are not Death Knights.

Well, that's what DRK is. They are not evil harbingers of death. They are the judge, the jury, and the executioner. Those who are above the law are not exempt from their brand of justice, and those who abuse power are often found to be bled straight by their swift methods of revelation. Unfortunately for their victims, these methods are so swift that they only have a few seconds at most to live with their epiphanies.

The eeriness surrounding DRK is due to unorthodox methods of combat that people have yet to understand, and so they fear it - dubbing it "blood" or "dark" magic. However, I believe it was Zepla who said they are nuttier than a Moogle turd. DRKs are kinda batschite and not the most mentally stable. The have an innate desire to punish and they're bloodthirsty. They are addicted to it and need it to feel alive. But they also want to do good, and that is why they are always looking for the next corrupt bureaucrat to strike down.

To me the Paladin is about the best in humanity. Warrior is about losing your humanity. Dark Knight is about sacrificing your humanity.

Zombies aren't really what I'd see as fitting in the Dark Knight theme. They're still about protecting the weak and doing the right thing, they just have questionable, illegal, or selfish means of doing it. Becoming a zombie themselves isn't exactly right or wrong, as no one else has to suffer the consequence of it.

Dark Knights are meant to be ruthless, vicious, and appear to be downright evil in their actions, though all they do is for the sake of good. Their attacks should appear to be as intentionally lethal as possible without concern for aesthetic, utilizing taboo forces as if they were pocket change. I think Dark Knights are mostly already like this, although I feel they should be the most effective killers among the Tank jobs, and perhaps the least sturdy physically, and right now they don't really fulfill the job of being the most effective killer as a tank, as far as I'm aware.

I'd love it if DRKs could tap more into their "inner darkness' or even augment themselves with voidal powers.

Eh, Nekros isn't really all that good like that. The only real reason to use Nekros or Nekros Prime is to keep your desecrate skill running for extra loots. All the rest of its abilities are a waste, honestly. Thematically I understand, but Nekros doesn't even need to use that sword, nor does any frame specially come with any weapon attached (aside from Exaulted weapons, but that's different).

This I know. Still some frames have actual favored weapons (Pandero is Octavia's; Euphona is Banshee's) and others have associated items and are packaged with them, like in Prime Access (which Nekros' are Galatine and Tigris Primes). Anyone's that has touched WarFrame can tell you every frame can use any weapon. However, I was pointing out that Nekros' lore is having control over the dead, has Shadows of the Dead as a usable ability. Not talking about how good the abilities are (though I can't imagine having Shadows take damage for you as ever a bad thing, assuming you have the mod ... never really messed with him), only that this "evil" looking frame is still a goody two-shoes.

I tried siding with Zenos. He was like "Nah man, nah."

    My hopes and dreams dashed.

EVEN the weapon almost looks like the dark relic sword.

Because we have our edgy emo knight. But yeah the drk is far away from epic.

True this is not WoW, but SE could cut off some slices of the death knight and give it to the drk.
