Guessing Derplander's job next expansion.

Probably for a lot of the same reasons that the bulk of the playerbase prefers DPS rather than support. Derplander is meant to be the stand-in character for the player. To generate hype for the game, that stand-in needs to be the prime actor, the one actually doing the things, not the one lending a hand to the folks actually doing the things.

That said, it's not out of the question for Derplander to be a tank or a healer (and this might be necessary if, as many suspect/hope, next expansion includes a new healer and tank but no new DPS) - but in the advertising, Derplander in that role will still be behaving like a DPS. If a tank, he'll be bashing face, not holding the monster at bay while others bash face. If a healer, he'll be casting healer nukes, not shielding or healing while others take down the mob.

Of the currently existing jobs, MCH obviously has the highest chance, to go with the technology theme.

i like the idea of MCH if the next expansion is as Garlean as i think it should be. RDM would be good too.

LineageRazor covered it pretty well, but it's also worth noting their marketing people nix'd having Ramuh's face on a banner advertising the very patch he appeared in. They take having mainstream appeal pretty seriously. Which... does make sense, as that sort of stuff is the face of the game.

I agree, machinist seems the most likely of the jobs we currently have, not just because of "technology" but because it's specifically based on Garlean technology.

Samurai has been the only newly-introduced job featured in the trailer, the others (warrior, dragoon, monk) have all been pre-established but are relevant to the story at that time.

You know what I want to see again? Derplander and buddies doing stuff. I mean yeah they became the Warriors of Darkness but it would be nice to see Derplander with his party again in opening cinematics.

He's already been a DPSing tank (warrior), in fact. Maybe that explains why there are two tanks in a party of five!

Well, some propaganda art has featured the rest of Derplander's party, particularly this Heavensward piece showing them all flying in Mannacutters over Ishgard strangely (and even more strange, is Derplander is clearly still depicted as WAR!):

He's already been a DPSing tank (warrior), in fact. Maybe that explains why there are two tanks in a party of five!

And he was a GLA even before that! (On 1.0's original opening movie, based on the sword on his backpack - although he did temporarily become an ARC during his Echo-trip into the Battle of Silvertear Skies). So yeah, he was originally a tank through and through, only in the expansions has he been DPS.

I think Ninja,easily can be cool in a cutscene like Samurai and Dragoon for marketing reasons

MCH might make sense in terms of themes, but that means they'll have to pick a ranged job, so that's not gonna happen :P
Ninja might actually work quite well if the way we go to Garlemald is essentially a stealth operation.
