I find the price history to be a nice addition, because not every item is always up to gauge off of. They added the feature to buy stuff directly for the people who don't want to walk to the retainer. It's a luxury tax.

Maybe my newbieish perspective may be helpful here ^.^;

I like the idea of being able to more easily peruse items that are available and their price. This will make things easier for me. Yes, MORE features (details, history, 3D rotation of item) would be well appreciated, and perhaps some of these may make it into the future.

But for the moment, the ability to just peruse some items is better than before.


Side note: My purse is sad about the 5% surcharge.
Side Side note: I kind of liked the auction hall in FFXI. Am I alone in that? I wonder why this 'retainer' approach was taken instead.

It's exactly what you said. Suggesting someone not use it because of an inherent and glaring flaw suggests that the subject service has no worth or purpose.

The entire purpose of it being added was because people threw a million fits over having to OH MAI GAWD run to the retainer to buy stuff, instead of having a I CAYN'T BELAIVE AIT proper auction house. They both served the exact same purpose, one just has you scoot your buns to an NPC, where you purchase it.

Now, there's a service that brings the item to you, it just costs you 5% (with a maximum charge of 4,000 gil). I just suggested that instead of getting mad about having to pay a whole 4,000 gil, you could instead walk to the NPC, the same way it's been for a year (minus the search function). If you don't want to walk, you don't have to. There is no flaw in this. Stop being mad for no reason...this is an optional function.

Could you imagine the forums w/o someone complaining about something new not meeting their expectations. It happens every patch. People must have nothing to do but this game all day... doesnt anyone else just read the stuff and say cool "they are adding XYZ"... it's always "why didn't they add ABC!!! or EFG!!! or HIJKLMNOPQRSTUVW X..." "THEY DID ADD X YOU DIDNT READ!" "WELL THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE Y" "... THey are doing Y.." "Has anyone heard if they are doing Z?" "Yes.. they are"
