Speedruns of HoH and kicking people

I'll be honest I only use Heaven on High for leveling and couldn't care less about the chests. I just say "lets do this fast please" at the beginning of a run and most people don't seem to have a problem with this.

Just now I was doing a run where even after I said this 2 rdms kept pulling stuff from other rooms looking for chests I assume, and I didn't say anything and just stood in the portal waiting for them to come back while I did stuff irl. If they want to do extra that's great for them, but then they waited until the boss room to randomly kick me out of the blue, which I didn't expect because they didn't say a word during the whole run.

I know that there's a way to see who you last partied with but I'm not sure how to get to that menu so I can block those guys and not have to deal with them dragging a 10 minute run into a 20 minute one again. If someone can tell me how to get to that menu I'd greatly appreciate it but also what are your thoughts on this? I thought I was straightforward enough about not wanting to spend that much time on a run but apparently not wanting to chase after chests was enough for them to kick me. Idk

Majority rules. You opted to make the run take even longer than it did by not helping. They chose to make sure they wasted as much of your time as possible in response.

Do you want to know why people are getting chests?

1. To make the run smoother with items just in case something goes wrong. Remember if everyone's HP drops, you gain no XP at all.

2. To build Aetherpool for to grow stronger in HoH or making an i365 weapon to use in the future.

3. To help gain some Intuition pomanders for Accursed Hoard chests for extra rewards (TT cards, materia, etc.)


To be frank, if most of the teammates and myself had low aetherpools ratings and had to get chests to raise them, I'd agree with dismissing you as well if you keep on staying on the exit portal for most of the run like you did in the run that you mentioned in your opening post.

Nothing random about that. They waited until the last possible second in order to waste as much of your time as possible.

Main Menu -> Social -> Contacts

Blacklisting won't prevent you from being paired with them in DF. It'll only prevent you from joining PFs made by them and it'll prevent them from joining PFs made by you. It'll also prevent you from seeing any messages from them, but that doesn't work in instances, iirc.

Report them for grief tactics. They could have dismissed you at any time after five minutes into the instance or could have said something about you waiting in the portal, but instead chose to wait until the last second to dismiss you.

While many have low aetherpool levels, yeah, but it shows another flaw in HoH/PoTD in that you can have two different goals when entering the instance.

I still don't understand why people feel the need to blindly spam PotD/HoH to "speedlevel" classes. Only somewhat annoying part is to hit lvl 50, from there on the game throws easy free exp at you via daily clan hunts and beast tribe quests (which are also perfect things to do wile sitting in DPS queues for roulettes/dungeons)

Social tab then Contacts/blacklist I only get annoyed when portal is ready and noobs who think they are getting more xp kill mobs not near a chest or needed for anything. I have grouped with a couple of people like you that just stand at the portal when they feel they are ready. I'd of done exactly what they did and wait end of last floor to boot

They could have just satisfied everybody in potd/hoh by making the amount of exp rewarded based on the number of enemies defeated and chests opened. Now leveling players don't mind taking longer because they are proportionally given more exp for doing it.

I don’t really see any wrong here. Differences of playstyle. Sure, it would have been nice if they had indicated earlier that as a party, they were planning on going after chests and were open to kicking those who made it harder for the group, but think about it. According to your post, you went in as a single person, made a single demand at the start of the run, and because they didn’t conform to your expectations you preceded to “troll” them by standing afk which is likely the explanation they chose when they kicked you. I put it in quotations because this may not have been your intent, but it is likely how they took it and if you report them them they will just bring your actions up to the gm and get it dismissed as being afk is a legit reason for kick. Personally I think there was not enough communication all around, everyone was in the wrong, but the situation does seem to side with them due to your actions potentially effecting the party’s progression more than theirs (you basically pulled the equivalent of getting a roulette dungeon you didn’t like and afking at the start until they decide to kick you. If the party was struggling at any point in the run, they could expect that you weren’t gonna help. Doesn’t mean that they were right to kick at the boss though, I would have kicked long before then.)

Thanks for responding guys, I didn't expect this many replies so I'll try to summarize:

Honestly I wasn't really trying to troll anyone by staying in the portal, though tbh I'm kinda tempted to spam emotes/pomanders/magicite next time around while I wait. I agree with one of the posts that it would be so much better if we got more exp for killing more mobs like a normal dungeon, otherwise I don't see the point. I run HoH/PotD because its just faster. Also there's a boost to the weapon and armor each time you finish the boss room so I don't bother chasing after extra chests after the portal opens. Next time I hope they at least respond instead of not saying anything because I'm not a mind reader. If it bothered them that much they should have said something. At the end of the day I'm just there for speed and if they want to go for chests that's on them.
