This might be more of a coincidence than I originally thought! The next character is announced on the 10th and released to exclusive arcades on the 12th, however, the world wide release is set for August.

I still don't really get where you guys are coming from.
Yes, Nael instigated the Calamity, but that fact has been kind of irrelevant since 2.0, unless you were there to experience the Calamity itself and fought Nael it's only a past event not dissimilar to the conquering of Doma for example.
Imagine saying the guy who killed Bruce Wayne's parents is the main antagonist in Batman, that doesn't really sound right.
For me it's that Nael is the only one of the main FF14 villians who stands up well next to other final fantasy villains, both in terms of strength (with the T9 form) and actual evil.I still don't really get where you guys are coming from.

Bruh, I was there, my character fought Nael in 1.0 and again in T9 and Nael as a villain still has zero impact on me in present day, post-Stormblood FFXIV.That couldn't be further from the truth though. For anyone who's followed XIV's story since 1.0 knows that Nael's presence is felt everywhere a piece of Dalamud rests. XIV's overall story should be viewed as arcs. The first major ark ended due to Nael's machinations. It's second ark, Gaius. The third ark, Nidhogg. Now, the fourth ark, we deal with Zenos. No, Nael's no longer a threat to us, but to say he/she has 0 presence at all, especially if you've been with XIV from the day 1, is like saying you're just disregarding the lore because you don't care for it. =\
I'm not trying to sound combative, if I am, I'm just trying to say that Nael's presence is very much there. Just like it would be for those who survived real life catastrophies. Just because it's "in the past", doesn't mean it's impact still isn't felt by those who lived it.

I see what you're saying there. And as Iscah mentioned earlier as well, I can see how newer players who know nothing of that content wouldn't know of Nael personally...I was meaning more in Nael's presence was left in the world itself. Not necessarily on an individual level, but Nael's passing by definitely left it's physical scars on Hydaelyn. IMHO at least.

This upsets me.that's why they planned to make accessible the Legacy earrings (from v1) at the next anniversary event? ....

Sure the earrings are worthless now but they were awarded for doing the hardest content in the game...
