did you read what i put. you even wrote what i put in your response to me. i don't think it will be redmage i think it will be timemage reason time mage is master of buffs and debuffs, redmage is a bit of everything and not just a buf/debuff specialist
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
Maybe not a huge deal but terribly inefficient from a debuffing/caster standpoint. But that was XI, this is XIV. I hope for a different mechanic than having to swap 4 to 8 elemental staves per fight.
I would go with what grandm is saying... chances are it will be arcanist in which case they can put in time mage first. I think they would need the fencer class in the game before they can go with red mage...

That's almost a given considering you can't viably swap weapons in combat, especially in between every cast. The core of the game would have to be changed around where a weapon wasn't tied to a specific class/job, and I don't see that happening. Which is fine by me, 8 less inventory spots that'll be taken up.
Who cares about Red Mage traditions, people want to dye their base classic Red Mage armor fuschia or teal anyway.
Since the OP and most of the posts base themselves upon tradition, that's my official forum style opinion on the matter with a fact to support it.
That was sarcasm by the way. My personal opinion/specualtion/hope is that Red Mage will be implemented when new jobs are added, and will branch from the existing classes.
XI's red mage was balanced spot on. The community chose to play it a certain way and that's fine as well in my opinion. I always thought SE gave us Blue Mage because the players never really embraced RDM as a front line role, and instead a flexible backline role.
Whatever the next mage class will be, either that, or a JOB variation will very likely get the debuff spells they're taking away from THM and CNJ
