Think about this - when was the last time WoW's approach didn't consist of leveling, then running dungeons to get gear to run harder dungeons, then running raids to get gear to run harder raids, mixed in with some sort of daily quest progression on the side? Those were either in at launch or added years ago, and it's still the core of the gameplay loop there (I think they've been at the point of changing for the sake of change, which is bad game design, for at least the last 3 expansions, but that's a different discussion).

    How I agree with you, It's what made me quit wow in the first place, beign pingponged by many shifts even midexpansion that were largely pointless. No to mention the many and many pieces of contents that during the expansion you have to do and then tossed in the coming one, like they never existed. Ppl say that content in FFXIV is negated quickly but imho it's never really tossed away like in wow.
    I can alredy imagine that ship missions and heart of azeroth will be useless in the expansion after bfa to which I wonder, is it worth spending dev time in something you KNOW will become obsolete?

    edit; Forgot about a thing the inconsistency on wow patches is another thing that really annoyed me, for any isle of thunder patch, there are many 6.1 patches (aka the selfie cam patch).

    The whole 4.3 patch has almost killed my FC. in 4.2 there was common to have 10-15 people on in prime time and most of the weekends. In 4.3 I haven't seen more then 4 online. One my hubby is often one of the other 3 people.

    I think the catchup odd number patches are hurting the game.
    I don't know what the fix is. But there needs to do something to better engage the active players.

    in 4.4
    I would say 1 EX dugeon
    Eureka 2
    New Gear
    in 4.5
    2 EX dugeons.
    Upgrade gear coin from next 24 man content.
    Old contect renewal Get 1 upgrade coin from dr leveling, get a different upgrade coin from dr 50/60 Get a 3rd upgrade dr EX. Get the coin regradless of level doing the DR as long as you have 1 job at 70.

    Commendations.
    If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
    If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
    If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

    Only if they should be getting a commendation.
    There are always exceptions to the rules!

    4.4 might bring a close to the Omega raid series, depending on whether or not SE decided to stick to their "No expansion until late 2019" schedule.

    I think it would take more then an extra raid tier to keep people interested, so I'm hoping there's some manner of genuinely new content in 4.4 aside from the two new dungeons that can keep people busy for a while.

    From a player who doesnt have everything at 70 I was looking forward to HoH but I did 2 sets of 10 and got bored immediately. It really is just a reskin of the Palace of the Dead. However Eureka was something new however the concept and gameplay was very boring, but the social aspect of Eureka is what made it last so long.

    I look forward to seeing the new version of Eureka with all the changes they make, but like many I do not have my hopes up.

    4.4 ends the raid cycle. And since 4.4 is doing that I expect the MSQ to be rather short. Since the next expansion will most likely be next fall. What will 4.6 and 4.7 bring to the table?

    The OP wrote exactly what I am feeling about FFXIV nowadays. It seems like we are just here to keep SE getting their paychecks without doing anything for the players. Playing the same content in different colors for 7 years, or even longer considering i`ve played the alpha of 1.0 and kept playing since today, is very saddening tbh. Sometimes it feels like SE does not even like us anymore and just creates content for people they loathe but need their money from. The only people that do a significant job there are the componists and designers, for al long time there was no programming team needed because the content just got reskinned and renamed. After all those years I think I won`t ever re-subscribe to ffxiv because it`s always just the same dull thing... For the others, have fun with primae xyz and whatever is scheduled for the next reskin period.

    Yoshida already said that there won't be an extra raid tier calling 4.4 the finale of omega

    hey don't forget they also dropped to 1 dungeon every every odd number patch (which I actually don't find bad , expert roulettes are boring anway) to "focus" more on "new" content.

    Any chance on a source for that "late 2019 schedule" thing? Can't find anything about it myself.

    Maybe they'll fill the gap by turning the castle in the middle of Eureka into a single part 8-man raid. Something along the lines of 4.36 adding the "Ice" zone, 4.46 adding the "Lightning" zone, 4.56 adding the "Fire" zone, and 4.6 adding the castle as a raid, where the players finish the Eureka relic.
