1440p@60fps is a monumental increase from 1080p@30 or even @60. My opinion is go big or go home. If you're going to shell out the money for PC, may as well get your money's worth. Why would you spend more money to have basically the same QoL. And with your $550 rig (I noticed you skipped the bit about adding Windows), are you running your settings at Maximum and getting 1080p@60? There are tiers of PC, and if you are going to pay for it you may as well get a decent upgrade.

I skipped the bit about Windows because I reused a license. Same HDD, just new mobo and stuff. Just reinstalled and was back up and running in an hour and some.

I tend to not run on max settings, even if the PC can handle it, because PCs going at full chug produce a Lot of heat, and I'm one of those people who don't like sweating away while gaming. I prefer to go easier on my hardware so that the room don't end up being 90F+.

I'll tweak the settings until I get the most bang for the buck so to speak, to where the changes are too small for me to really notice during the heat of play, but yet cost much more resources. Same way I build computers actually; if there's a GPU card for $80, 120, 150 and the next one up is $300.... I'm going to go with the 150 one, thanks.
