if they do that they have to do it for EVERYONE, since we all pay for the service to play on every server and SE basically don't know for wich data center we are paying. that means SE loses 125.000 dollar per day for all the 500.000 active players.

It should be nice if they add one free subscription's day to every player which have at least one character inside the chaos DC ... does not matter if player are using it or not.
Oopdate
While we are continually working on addressing the issue by swapping out the damaged server and network equipment, there are a lot more damaged equipment than we originally suspected, and we are still unable to provide the recovery time.
We will keep you updated and inform you as soon as there are any changes. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Seems like the prediction of "gon be out of commission till next week" might come true oh boy...
Where are you getting these updates Hacchan?
Lodestone?
As well as this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-%28Jun.-21%29
This is somewhat annoying. I work 70+ hours a week at the moment so my playtime is very low, doing the weekly stuff is very difficult and now with today being down I'm never going to get close to getting capped on weeklies. I have no sympathy for the European staff, they prove time and time again they're useless and don't know what they're doing.
They should give us 200 Mendacity, 50k MGP, 500 Allied Seals, 500 Centurio Seals and give the Golden Saucer event an extra day to compensate. Not gonna happen though, only thing we'll get is a thanks for our patience because their customer service sucks.
We are continually working to fix the issue, but as there are multiple affected areas, we are unable to provide the recovery time.
We will keep you updated and inform you as soon as there are any changes. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Been with the game for 3+ years. This is the first time I experience this. while there are frustrating issues here and there. the overall is mostly satisfactory. and in many areas, outstanding and levels beyond competing MMO's.So i came to this game planning to settle here and make it my MMO home, so far i encountered VERY VERY frustrating experience with the customer/tech support in this game!
as subgame, this kind of problems shouldn't happen for more than 30 min at max and very rarely.
and the usual reply "check if the problem from your end" isn't an excuse as its clearly from Devs side since everyone here having same issues!
we paid you guys monthly fees to be able to log and play whenever we want and this is not what i see!
We don't know the extend of the damage aside the report on complete power loss and equipment failure in the DC meaning it's quite a heavy issue and considered as 'catastrophic event'. But most DC tend to have multiple layer to prevent massive loss in term of data or equipment, such as dual power feed, back up generator, in-room battery and other disaster prevention system but the data shouldn't, in theory, be affected by a heavy marge. Unless they also got badly hit but nobody know how the data is managed and backed but, usually they should have an on-site backup and an off-site one (insurance and stuff tend to request those nowadays) so you can look at maybe a 24h rollback while the equipment 'usually' can be hotswapped if its out of commission and available.
Ouch >.< here's me hoping it's worse than it looks, wish them luck in getting it sorted.. 'til then I might create another character on a different data center during the downtime.
