    Maybe only two "Ultimate" Savage raids per expansion from this point on?

    Just read a translated interview Yoshi P gave on Dengeki:

    Apparently they are scaling back the number of Ultimate Savage raids to 2 per expansion rather than every odd-numbered patch.

    Your thoughts?

    If they were going to do this from the beginning then that's fine, but it's their reasoning that's bothering me. According to the interview, he said, "after observing the reactions from the community, there were a lot of opinions saying "Having an ultimate fight every 2 patches is too rough"". I've never seen this sentiment from Ultimate Raiders. And seeing as how this content is directed at such a specific section of the playerbase, I would think most Ultimate Raiders would want *more* of this, not less. Is this a sentiment from the JP community? Because I've never seen complaints from NA raiders asking for LESS Ultimate.

    Ultimate is great for the game, it brings in TONS of views on twitch and brings in a lot of interest for the game from people who never would have considered this. I think this is a poor choice, especially since I don't think we're going to get other content besides Ultimate if it is taken away in 4.5.

    I'd be interested in knowing where he got that feeling.

    Cause Ultimate is gathering a lot of people. Those who hardly try it and those who happily watch the progress, showing what dev are able to do with FFXIV as a really hard and interesting battle.

    Only one every odd numbered patch already isn't a lot, yet was enough.
    I'm really curious to know where it comes from.

    The real question is: do the devs even have enough content to recycle if they did do 3 every expansion?

    Well, there is still the option of an Ultimate adaptation of Cloud Of Darkness and minions.

    That would make 3 Ultimates total for ARR.

    Sure, it's a downgrade from 24-man to 8-man, but i'm sure that by itself is not an insurmountable obstacle.

    Then for HW you can get Ultimate Alexander, Ultimate Thordan/Nidhogg/Lahabrea and that other Ascian, and Ultimate Diabolos and fellow voidsent.

    So one for the raid series, one for the story climax boss, and one for the 24-man story.

    Nothing stops them on reusing some existing boss for other medley.

    Imagine nidhogg, hraesvelger, bahamut and midgarsorm as a wrath of the first brood medley
    or a version of ultima weapon using ramuh, leviathan ansd shiva, the sky is the limit afterall

    Let's see:

    For ARR, we had Coil, and the Crystal Tower raids
    For HW, we had Alexander, Void Ark, and the upper floors of PotD
    For SB, we have Omega, Ivalice raids, and coming soon the upper floors of Heaven on High.

    So if you follow the pattern. Ultimate Coil was based off the Coil raids, and the Ultimate Ultimate was based off a combination of three ARR raid primals that were used in Ultima.

    So the next logical thing they could have put in... Ultimate King Moggle Mog. Levi/Ramuh/Shiva, and then Ultimate King Moggle Mog Odin. As a boss rush.

    In 5.0 They'd then have an opportunity to do Ultimate with Ravana, Bismarck, King Thordan with Nidhogg at the end, and then an Ultimate with the Warring Triad.

    That's the pattern we've seen thus far. The Ultimate's are from the previous primals, or previous raid tiers. Now it's not really that unreasonable to have "Ultimate Crystal Tower" or "Ultimate Void Ark" which is just the bosses back to back. But it's doesn't really add anything new in doing so. Especially since the Alliance raids are all based on content from other games in the Final Fantasy series.

    But I'll repeat what I said.

    2 Ultimate fights per expansion is perfect if we're going to patch 3.5 like previous expansions.

    If we have 1 fight every odd patch, the last one would be in 3.5 which would be just before an expansion.

    I would rather have the devs who work on Ultimate fights work on creating content for the expansion when it's getting close to launch.

    Yoshi said they have three developers who are able to design ultimate level gifts currently. We gave up a level 70 dungeon to gain ultimate in terms of resources.

    From both a player perspective of someone doing this content and from the design side it shouldn't be rough or limit the creation of other content. We lived these fights and I haven't heard any negative feedback from Ultima...

    Overall in the future I hope they change their stance on this.

    I'd guess the number of people interacting with the content didn't justify pulling resources away from other thing
