    hello,

Thx for all the things i am reading about this subject. But i think i didnt explain some thing right.

    1. I never blamed all the mentors to be bad. I have come across plenty of nice mentors.( the so as i called them in my thread "bad mentors" only showed up at extreme dungeons and trials)
    2. I agree that a mentor shouldnt have to explain everything to a new player. New player should be able to look up so guides to help themselfs
    3. I dont want to ever get boosted through the content. Thing only reason i started the extreme trials at this point was to have more difficult content( because most thing below hard are way to ez)
    4. The thing that could have made the biggest difference for me was knowing about PF.Today someone from my FC told me that i could use the duty finder to look for groups. I also didnt know you could do dugeons/trials unsync( i still like synced because of the difficulty that it gives)

In the end my question was more about "being a mentor just for the mount". Because I was a little bit annoyed by multiple mentors leaving us because "it wasnt worth there time" i placed "bad mentors". I never meant to offend any mentor that really tries hard to help the new players. And ppl that are disrespectfull against ppl that only want to help are the worst. In the end i just didnt saw the purpose of being a mentor anymore. I am not playing this game for a long time so there is alot for me to learn( and learning through your own mistakes is maybe the best way to learn things). I didnt even hit lvl70 yet . But at some points new players will get stuck at the parts you are all way past and i didnt expected ppl not willing to help.

Again i am really sorry if i ever said anything that offended true mentors in anyway

Just lovely, the amount of people that jumped eager to attack the newbie. Fellow didn't even write anything offensive, just asking for mentors to "please, act like a mentor".
I don't think that was so unreasonable? And I agree, you should be able to report someone for being a dreadful mentor, the penalty being that you lose the mentor tag.

Goodness, player-base, when have you become so aggressive?

I guess it's true, the forums really are that minority...

The cynical part of me thinks the people who said OP is wrong to expect mentors to mentor, are likely mentors themselves who also don't mentor when they wear their crown.

Having the crown flag and using mentor roulette is 100% choice based. So all this natter about "mentors are only human too and don't always want to advise or help" is frankly bull***t because they can just take off the crown and not use mentor roulette if they don't feel like being a mentor.

They really need just remove the rewards throw them in achievement point trade & remove the crown. Also those being like I don't need be great at game when you literally accept being a mentor you're saying you're knowledgeable to certain degree not I'm regular old joe player & don't have know jack about mechanics/classes.. taking crown is taking a responsibility that you're good enough at game that you could teach that you're going into the roulette knowing majority of the fights/mechanics in those fights & will be calm collected & teach players when/if need it in said fights & not that you're going in as a regular player who doesn't have help when asked for advice.

    ^This.

I've been a major proponent of demanding mentors to actually mentor...or get the hell out. (Lose the crown)

As a mentor you are expected to actively perform the following:
1 Provide gameplay advice for new adventurers and other players.
2 Be an exemplar for player etiquette.
3 Invite new adventurers to the Novice Network and answer their queries in the chat channel.

    1. Key word provide gameplay advice. Willing to help isn’t in the rules. They don’t have to help anyone, most do, but none should have to.
    2. He is an exemplar of player etiquette because he perfectly mirrors us FF14 player base as being little whiny *******. Who are self entitled. SE can back me on this statement up. Seriously SE where is my sippy cup?
    3. They do as number 3 states.

As to all player the following applies:

3.2 Disruption. You may not in any way disrupt or interfere with the Game experience of other players, including the disruption of Square Enix's computers and servers.

You asking him to help and him saying no is perfectly fine. It should of stopped there. You pestering him and coming to the forums to call him out is ruining his gameplay experience. What gives you that right?

As for all players everyone is responsible for their own progression, no one is entitled to receive assistance from anyone. Anyone willing to help you is doing it out of their own free will. Be thankful for what you get.

Since when is providing gameplay advice not considered a form of help? You're contradicting yourself.

And anyone not willing to help shouldn't have their crown on. Besides, this person said they weren't worth his time as he only wanted the mount. Didn't even TRY to provide gameplay advice. Didn't try to help, anything. Just berated them because they weren't gonna easily get him to progress on his mount. Not very mentor-worthy now is it? And this is why I proposed decoupling this Mentor roulette from the Mentor programme and rename it. So those who want the mount don't have to wear the crown that says "I'm here to help" to get it. Everybody wins that way.

The OP said they'd researched the fight, looked up guides, etc. Done everything they could (except PF because they didn't know about that, and frankly the game doesn't do a good job of teaching you about it, if it even attempts to teach you about it at all). Hardly someone wanting their hand held through the battle now is it?

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Except the OP didn't want their hand held? They had done their research and were actively trying but decided to reach out for help from another player wearing an 'I am a helpful person for newbies' icon. If that person didn't want anyone asking them questions they shouldn't have been wearing an 'ask me questions' hat.
