The subscription discount is nice but unless the next update is truly amazing and adds more to the game I think I will skip out on playing for a month or more. Lately I've been logging on the game for 5 minutes and then logging back off because there is just not a whole lot to do anymore. I will wait and see next update.
They really need to make payment options more hassle-free.
I'd rather not give click and buy my credit card info.
I loathed Microsoft over their company currency they use on Xbox live..
The Crysta fee for the game is an odd unusual number and the amounts you can buy are full even amounts that are either not enough or too much... I hate business practices like these.
(edit: I noticed you can add a specific amount of crysta... but it still wants click and buy to do it.)
Online payment services might be nice if you already use them for something else... but for people (such as myself) who have to set one up just to play this game... that is an annoyance. :/
I used to be annoyed by the playonline service for FFXI... now I'd rather take that then what SE has set up for this game.. I'm hoping they revamp payments options real good if they want people to pay.

Xeonerable,
the payment options are going to change and you can put in exactly crysta amounts of your choice. I believe they gave a date of Dec 16 when the new options will be available in the account management.
・An auto gear change system designed specifically to work with the Armoury
・A UI system that allows for toggling between text and icon display
・An environment that supports user-generated add-on content (PC only)
The implementation of a new server system will allow us
to greatly improve and expand upon current player
community features. The following is a list of some of
the additions being planned:
・Additional in-game community options
(Free Company establishment, growth, and competition)
・In-game delivery and mail systems
・Player housing (estates)
・PvP content
・Revamping of the retainer system and markets
Implementation of the aforementioned features will begin
in the third quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
Improvement of search function, release of auction house features, measures to stimulate in-game
economy after patch 1.20.
Complete redesign of markets into a system incorporating retainers and auction house elements. Planned
for version 2.0.
All this is coming, and imo, more than worth paying for. Discount? Hell Ya~! It took me a long time to get used to XIV, I was too busy comparing it to XI. It's not the same, but the pricing is, which I don't have a problem with. You want WoW, Rift, w/e MMO to play 12783654393 chars to level all jobs and crafts go right ahead, I hate having to do all the quests over and over, once is enough for me.
I like the idea of retainers, I don't have to leave the monster running 24/7 to bazaar...(hella high ele bills) I have always been a Final Fantasy fan, call me a fan boy, but I don't see a problem in a 3$ char fee and 1$ or w/e for retainers.
Then they give us a discount and do all this work if anyone else read the email and the documents attached to it, they lay it all out. Give us dates for patches, everything! Just wait in faith of SE, they are trying.
Yes, we will lose people to swapping over to Subs, but people will always find something to whine about. I do not want easy mode, I want something the company cares about to totally revamp it, do everything they can to make the game the best it can be. They are even going to give us add-ons, so maybe we can have those handy things we like... You know if you played XI.
ANyways, I am happy with wqhat I see in game already, and what is to come, yes, some of it will be a long wait, but worth it. No other MMO is like the FF series. This is why I like it.

of course we are paying to develop a future game
but thats the definition of paying for ANY mmo out there
right now as of this next patch, we have at endgame
3 strongholds
1 dungeon
2 primal fights(if you count moogle)
Several NMs(dodore, buffalo etc)
thats 7 activities, more if you count each NM its own thing
if you consider this the "launch" of the game where we start paying, it is pretty up to par endgame wise to most other games at launch with its endgame content
thats not counting several other non fighting related things such as the achievemnt system
people need to not think of 2.0 but what we have NOW, every game always has something else coming to it, same as this one, but you dont pay for whats coming, you pay for what you have now that you are playing
do you enjoy what you are playing now? if the answer is yes, then you shouldnt care what comes next year, and dwell on paying now when you want to pay then, you can do BOTH.
as long as you enjoy an mmo theres no reason not to pay for it(unless you dont have the money of course)

30 bucks for 180 days during discount? that is about 5 dollars a month. I was hoping it would be 7.
If you choose the long subscription SE more than surpassed my expectations on the discount. I'll be staying
SE, thank you!
