Felis is 100% correct! This was in fact announced last year when the game first came out it would be $3.00 per character. Despite the fact that we have not payed a single penny at this time, the monthly and character rates were stated back in like Aug/Sept on 2010 so everyone already knew the price per month/per character/per extra retainer.

Nay for $3/character. Nay for FFXI discount only lasting three months where it should be continued indefinitely, since they're not even putting effort into FFXI anymore. (It might change but I won't hold my breath, SE and their learning curve...)

Also nay for the possibility of having to pay for our 1st two retainers starting 2.0. The ones we've had all this time and filled with items which are integral to our playing routines. Yeah, that won't be an awkward transition... /sarcasm

3$ per additional char sounds bad on paper, tho most ffxi fans know you can do everything on 1 character, most new players looking to try/buy the game for the first time might get turned off by it.

im happy w/ the discount tho. i'll probably pay to play the whole way til 2.0 now. pending on how the patches are up to it.

I don't like that 3€/$ per character fee even though i agree you can do everything on one character.

You can always deactivate one of your slots and activate another one for as long as you wish, the only downside is that you are then stuck with that character for one month at least, unless you pay that is.

unfortunately this is true, there are black friday related deaths,lol. how ever its prob not as popular as you think it is. more people would rather not be in that mess then get the deal.
