Mateus is also filled with friendly people...
The whole basis of this thread is "I hate people from X server for, uh, reasons."
Don't expect anything but thinly veiled bigotry.
Not to mention when they did open it, it was flooded with bots almost immediately. A good chunk of people have already left and at least on tumblr, most of the Balmung community is more than happy to promote other servers and boost recognition for them. By now most people coming to RP on FF14 actually have choices of where they might want to go and hardly anyone is saying they /need/ to come to Balmung to feel included. We have actually spread out the RP community, as there is quite a large and thriving community on Mateus as well, not to mention at least one on the EU servers as well. Balmung remains congested because no one is moving off of it, because most of the people there are very well established. Those without many ties to the server, or wanting a change have already left for Mateus and the EU server. There are also decent sized RP communities on Jenova and Siren as well, and pockets of it spread elsewhere. I know Hyperion made some noise recently about their community.
With Balmung closed nobody who isn't already there can even play on Balmung - so no point to promote Balmung when you can't get there..Not to mention when they did open it, it was flooded with bots almost immediately. Luckily there are other options, and have been for quite some time now.
Both Mateus and Omega have thriving RP communities, and there are small RP communities on several other servers as well.
I haven't read the whole thread...but when did transfers off Balmung become free? I'm pretty sure it's only free if you transfer off a congested server (in this case Balmung) to a recommended (underpopulated) server. Has something changed?
Fishsteaks were made
Why? It's not crashing Aether anymore.
Yep, my post was more an aside to the people that were saying Balmung people need to encourage others to look elsewhere... Well, we already are. I've seen communities on pretty much every server and it seems like everyone is finally finding their niche. With Balmung closed nobody who isn't already there can even play on Balmung - so no point to promote Balmung when you can't get there..

As much as I'd like not to get a bunch of RP-ers when I go into dungeons (who are still RP-ing and not focusing), Eureka (take that ERP elsewhere...), and other instances...
I don't know if there are enough RP people to warrant an entire data center. That sounds like a lot of hardware costs for SE (As far as I can tell from things they've mentioned here and there during interviews, a single "server" is actually more like a set of linked physical servers, plus extra physical servers to handle cross-world content, retainers ,etc...). I don't know if I'd want my sub to go up if the data center won't be packed full of people.

This one confuses me... where is this plethora of people rping in instances coming from? As an RPer I have not seen a single instance of this happening, outside of completely full premade groups in dungeons. Nearly four years now and not once has it happened to me. Most rpers that I know are fairly serious gamers, and quite a few are savage raiders bashing their heads against God Kefka and UwU.
