I have 5 friends who want to play this game. They are not happy with how it launched but one thing keeps them from playing with the recent service fee announcement.

Per character cost and retainers possibly costing X number of dollars after 2.0.

Even with the hard-drive crisis affecting the world I'm sure it doesn't cost that much to store the data required for a retainer and/or character. I say this from a developer standpoint as aside from graphic design that is also my main job.

Now personally, yes I can afford to have multiple characters but I don't feel as I'm most do that having more than 1 should cost that much more.

So here's my deal :
I'm willing to pay 15.99/month for 3 character slots (including 1 retainer each).
This will be inline with many of the MMO's your trying to compete with.

Each additional character slot is 4.99 (one time fee, we buy it outright, maximum of 8 or 16)

Each additional retainer is $1 / month (to a maximum of three)

It's "somewhat" microtransction based but it doesn't provide a benefit other than storage. If your worried about RMT than focus on that, rather than limiting what your players can do with their time/money.

Please keep in mind that it doesn't matter what this game offers. If another game offers a comparable product and at a price that gives better value, you will lose that customer at least 50% of the time.

My friends and I want multiple characters to experience a job or two on that race. I want to be a big honking man meat of a monk, but a Lalafell paladin. I want my Bard to be a cat.

Will I buy more slots? No, because I don't need many. Would my friends? Yes.

And since this is my first Poll! (which I said I would never do)

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work this way. You cant just make a deal with the producer on a person my person basis..... You pay what they are charging or you don't play. The decision to charge monthly fee's and the amount agreed on was probably thought out, discussed, rediscussed, voted on, then published. It's not going to change on the wim of a forum post I'm sorry. Resistance is Futile.

You do not need more then 1 character, you can do EVERYTHING on one, if you still want a alt, buy space for one more, if you just want "more space" use your retainers, its not a hard concept to understand, its sad wow and other mmos corrupted people to where they need 10+ alts when 1 character can do everything in this game which is better then having alts

At this point there's no real point to be different races. Except that it's all pure vanity...and vanity in an MMO in recent years has been priced outside of the standard subscription model.

Play any free to play and you'll see the true costs of a vanity item...especially if the vanity item comes in a random chest that you might get 1 in 100 chests. $3 a character a month...cheaper then what it would truly costs you in most MMOs. SE doesn't want you to play only 1 class. I think that has been clear from the start...and play any later day final fantasy and it's clear that they want you to have an everything class and then choose how you want to play based on the limitations of what you can apply to said character.

Respectfully you didn't get the purpose behind it. Some people don't want to level all jobs on one character they want a race behind the character's job.

Then you should be willing to pay for what you want, since unlike most MMOs out there your one character literally does everything in SE's Final Fantasy MMOs so you don't need multiple characters perse in terms of experiencing jobs and the like.

Other MMOs allow free character slots (F2P MMOs eventually charge for additional slots) because you're locked into 1 Class Tree per Character.

I never played Wow, I could never stay interested in that game's graphics long enough to consider playing it. FFxi and Xiv are my only extensive experience with mmo's outside of beta testing others. I am 'corrupted' by my need for visual stimuli and aesthetics in any game I play, 'corrupted' by Final Fantasy, their making such lovely and versatile characters.

Until they allow you to change races? and types of each race I don't see how you can literally do everything on one character, not to mention gender difference. Even if they allowed that, getting attached to one character and not wanting to delete it because I will go back to it later, having the alts to play when I want variety would eliminate my desire to use one character and erase it to try another race/gender.

For me, there is more to playing than simply doing everything on one character. The multiple races change the visual and aesthetic aspects of the game experience. The genders and races effect the interaction I get from other players. In XIV they also added the variety of choices within the races as well and I am very pleased by this.

I will have alts purely for the visual experience and variety of playing the different types of each race and within the race, the different character models available. I also like to play different starting worlds and experiencing each starting story from different character types. When you think about how each race moves/emotes differently than another, that is also an aspect I like to experience. Starting with a new character model and race is an entirely new experience to me.

TL / DR
I am obviously very much into the graphical and visual elements of a game and they tend to make or break my experience so these things matter to me, can't speak for others but Wow has nothing to do with it in my case.
