Despite all my talk on Viera and what not, I'm actually still in the process of beating Post-Heavensward so I don't really know much of anything stormblood related

Are you telling me that Return to Ivalice, whatever that may be, isn't added to the game yet. gee im getting a bit confused..

Anywhooo, is their a trailer or somehing I can watch though? People seem to know much about it that I don't.

Omgd, being level 70 I thought you were in SB. (The levelling thing astounds me still.) Return to Ivalice is a series of 24-man raids (right now we have Rabanastre (first raid) and Ridorana (second raid), but I'm not sure if it's actually canon in accordance with MSQ or not if that is what you're asking? I'm thhhinking they are, but don't quote me on that.

Its the Stormblood 24-man raid. Its probably called that cause outside of remasters the Ivalice universe games are pretty much done.

As far as canon goes it IS canon, but it won't have much bearing on the MSQ barring any NPCs in it refrencing that they already know you if you have started/completed it. Similar things happen with characters from the Class/Job quests if they show up outside of those.

In the run up to the Lighthouse part of the raid the devs for it said that they were pulling from the early-to-earliest drafts of Tactics and XII for the XIV version, so if any of this is on the internet it could tell us of other possible changes for characters. If they were even around at the time those drafts were made. Vaan and Penelo for example came from later drafts in the story and thus are less likely to appear in this version, unless we actually do go beyond 4.5.

It should also be noted that the lore in FFXIV's Ivalice (and in general) is not the same as the one in Tactics and XII. So if Viera do appear, they'll most likely be completely different. Let's say Fran appears: her personality and background could be completely different, much like Ba'gamnan (who had noble reasons for the things he do). She could be a bloodthirsty warrior out to kill Garleans and have no regard to nature.

I have to admit when I first started seeing Garleans I thought of that fight on the airship in FFXII where Fran is effected by the magicite and goes berserk on the Imperials.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we got Viera at the end of the Ivalice raid chain and then as a playable race in 5.0. The Garleans are trying to expand their reach, Viera fit as a natural opposition to such an industrial and technological society. If we're heading to their turf in 5.0 I could see Viera as natural alies against them just like the Xaela in the Steppe.

I wouldn't be mad if Viera were added in 5.0. I can't think of a better option off the top of my head. I think it would be cool if their dimorphism was the inverse to Au Ra - strong, Amazonian women with lil' adorbs guys. With the mystery surrounding male Viera it wouldn't be hard to do. With as likely as DNC seems as a new class I think adding a race that so personifies grace and elegance couldn't be a bad call either.

Aaahhh, no... Roe men are HUGE. We already have Elezens, Au Ras, and Roes. Honestly, I don't care if they're short or if they're tall (or somewhere in between), but taller than Roe is... too tall... A friend of mine plays the tallest setting for Au Ra and he can't fit into spaces my avatar can. Let's be... careful with the ultra height, here. #tallpeopleproblemsingame&outofgame XD

I agree!! Whether it's Viera or some other race, I would love to see a reverse dimorphism of Au Ra. But I still want my muscular manly bunnies. They can be shorter than the amazonian female viera, but please don't chibify my male viera. XD (Of course, it would be amazing if they integrated both types [on OP] as separate clans)

And happy to see it back. Truly hoping for Viera in this next expansion, the new art for FFXII The Zodiac Age and the mention of Viera in he Ivalice raid story really bolstered my hope that they may be on the horizon.

I’ve been wanting to play as Viera for years now! The anticipation that they might be revealed in the final instalment of the Ivalice raids fills me with so much excitement! I think they’d be the perfect choice for a new race, since they could fit the niche of a tall, powerful, Amazonian race that isn’t as awkward or gangly as Elezen or as burly and muscular as Roes. Please bring them in as a new playable race!
