Take everything you read here...with a very....very..generous...helping of salt.
Just because people say it is...doesn't necessarily mean it's good. (And yes i confess I'm the anti-majority most times here - yet people constantly smile at me and nod in private. ^_^![]()
Oh.. my sweet summer child..
I'll play whatever my party needs me to.
...except melee
Welcome to the forums! Try to take things with a grain of salt. These aren't entirely representative of the differences you'll find on individual servers or data centers. But there are some interesting topics sometimes!
First MMO? pretty much every main one has a website for info/news/updates/forums. Welcome to one of the wastelands of the internet. Honestly come to lodestone for the announcements of events, patch notes, and useful stuff so you can stay in the know and be informed about the game, don't spend a lot of time here, mostly just the voices of the noisy minority but it is fun to listen to people cry an insane amount about absolutely nothing.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! It’s very nice to meet you all!
“Courage is the magic that turns dreams into a reality”
A few things you should know:
1). There's an absurdly low limit as to how many characters you can type normally (1,000!). You can edit to bypass this.
2). There's an absurdly low and very arbitrary limit as to how many "posts per day" you can make, though there's no counters anywhere that tell you this and there's no way of knowing when you'll hit your limit (which is just stupid). You can be in the middle of a conversation and receive that dreaded "You are either not high enough level or you have reached your posting limit" error. Then, it's a crapshoot as to how long you must wait before posting again and likely you'll hit the limit again after 2-3 posts. It's really weird and I don't even think the system works properly because it is so erratic. I have personally verified that it is NOT JP midnight reset.
3). Don't even bother trying to talk about casual content -- you'll get savage raiders popping in telling you how to play your job for savage raiding even if you state you're not doing savage raiding. You either go hardcore or you don't go at all according to some of these people.
Not all Savage raiders act that way, just like not all casual players act with the "You don't pay my sub!" mentality. I don't think this stereotypical point was ever needed and at best, you're generalizing and sectioning off a large group of players just because you have a personal spite with them. Very unfriendly-like.3). I never once said all Savage Raiders act like that. Not all Savage raiders act that way, just like not all casual players act with the "You don't pay my sub!" mentality. I said "don't talk about casual content or you'll get Savage Raiders who act like that".
There's a difference.
I know a few Savage Raiders and they're cool people. However, there ARE those Savage Raiders here on these forums that will talk like that. Don't act like they don't exist; they very much do. Even if they are a vocal minority.
You didn't have to say all because you never really tried to differiente in the first place. You basically just told some poor new user on the forums to not even bother talking about anything casual because and I quote from you, "3). Don't even bother trying to talk about casual content -- you'll get savage raiders popping in telling you how to play your job for savage raiding even if you state you're not doing savage raiding."I never once said all Savage Raiders act like that.

In what part of this context did you not mean all raiders then? I mean, you could have said "you'll get SOME savage raiders" and that would have been fine, but you didn't. I realize it's arguing semantics and all, but you kind of did generalize or, at least in the context of your opening statement, point in the direction that you're looking to group all raiders as opposed towards the few that do. In which case, what does it even matter and why did you need to make that point anyways?
I see it less as solid advice towards a newbie poster and more or less along the lines of personal spite being directed towards the people you don't agree with mostly.
