So to summerize - you didn't communicate your intent to do another roulette after this. Your tank was a sprout. You had significantly more than enough time to complete this dungeon before maintenance hit even at this slower pace. At one point he even tried to bigpull, probably to accomidate what he saw as a rushing party, but since he was inexperienced he couldn't properly handle it and died. Still 0 communication from anyone.

I wish someone had taught the poor guy about Shirk, seems like he needed it.

To be clear I don't enjoy slow dungeon tanks but, as has been said a million times before, if you want to control the pace of the dungeon play a tank. I think you should be ashamed for treating a sprout like that personally, not sure why you're bragging that your healer and other dps were able to carry you.

Yeah, reading that, I don't get how that was a story worth sharing or an example of a bad Duty run. The tank is new and not allowed to play at his pace. There's no communication whatsoever. If anything, that story makes me feel sorry for the tank, that he had to put up with that party.

Why would you treat another player let alone a sprout this way? Maybe next communicate with the group instead of typing up a huge post for the vent thread on the forums. A little communication goes a long way, should try it next time. Sorry beating a dead horse.

PS This is just a weird thing - if anyone here goes into WCoM can you let me know what the chat log says when the boss arenas are sealed? Because whilst doing the above WCOM run, I noticed that the chat box appears to be getting it wrong.

When I did WCOM, the chat log pushed all the names 1 boss early - it said after AE went down that the Shrine was no longer sealed and that Forgall's arena was the Gloriole. I just want to check that I wasn't trippin or if it's just from latest patch mistake maybe (or just a 1 time thing idk).

EDIT: You can actually see it! In the second screenshot in my chat log, at the bottom - that screenshot was taken when Ozma died and you can just about see it there saying that the Tomb of the Nullstone isn't sealed - that's Calo's boss room, not Ozma's!

The seal isn't the door locking behind you. It's the locked door behind the bosses that stops you from just running past them. So when you beat Ozma, the door to the next boss (Calo) unlocks.

Ugh...Usho, while I don't like a tank that takes ages to do things any more than you do, I also agree with MoroMurasaki in principle - you pull it, you tank it. Communication would have helped here: "Please don't do a countdown for the bosses in a dungeon, save that for trials/raids." and "Could you pick up the pace some? I don't care if you pull more or not, but please pull faster." would have helped a lot, I suspect. Honestly, I don't blame him for trying to kill you after the second boss pull. Me? I'd have just dropped tank stance and shirked either you or the NIN, depending on who wanted the aggro more.

Now, a small story related to the above: I always have "in progress" checked, so yesterday I went into Leveling Roulette on my WAR. Got Stone Vigil in progress, 17m. I didn't ask what had happened, but I noticed they were on the second boss at the time. I blow through the dungeon as fast as I can, and while I'm running they finish him off and start moving on, so I caught up and snagged aggro on the next mob. After that, it was a race with the drg to see who'd get aggro first. I didn't mind, since grabbing aggro was always a snap and I figured they'd been running without a tank for a bit and was simply in "tank mode" at that point so I didn't say anything, and he didn't pull the final boss (tho I didn't wait around to see if he would). In the end, I ended up actually cleaving the party once due to bad initial positioning after second dives (he does a breath right after he comes down), but otherwise it went well, and I ended up getting 3 comms and the gun from the place.

The moral? If you're gonna pull for the tank to help set the pace, just don't pull more than you yourself can handle (in case the tank decides to shirk you and dps), and don't pull bosses unless you really want to tank them.

No where in your post did you mention that you told the tank you wanted to get through Hell's Lid fast to get another roulette in before maintenance, and by the sounds of it you had PLENTY of time to do so. You think the tank had a sprout and so chances are they were a new player. If they job skipped, that's all the more reason to be more communicative with them. You then repeatedly pull ahead of the tank because you're in a rush to get another roulette in and so willfully and purposefully make someone else's run likely more stressful.

Like others have said: I feel bad for that tank, not you. If that had been me, I'd have shirked you every chance I got (assuming communicating with you failed to resolve the problem).

This is a "I treated someone like crap because my desires trump their comfort" story - and it does not make you look good. At all.

Decided to dust off my dragoon gear for a trial roulette yesterday, got Titan. Having not played the job in half a year or so, I thought I was doing okay.....until I mistimed a Jump and got animation-locked into a Landslide. Whoops.

I quipped in party chat, "So a dragoon walks into a bar.....the rest of the party dodges."

And that's how I got three commendations for a bad joke.

I have a few...

This one time doing Main Scenario(Castrum Meridianum).

I ask to let me pull, after doing this quite a few times I've been able to shave off a minute or two here and there, the other tank doesn't agree but complies anyway(he doesn't), first pull goes well, the second pull he starts pulling and lags behind with the two healers and I'm zig zagging so they can catch up then the healer had the brilliant idea of using regen on me which I didn't notice at first and dies, starts complaining why I'm pulling that many and says "what's holmgang'', yeah I'm gonna use holmgang when both healers are dead, what is holmgang indeed...

They all of course blame me, because why not. They were behaving obnoxious the whole run, how I'm wasting their time etc. Then we reach Livia, instead of doing their jobs and loading missiles they all start to dance, you can imagine what echoed in my mind. The other tank had to leave an obnoxious statement before he left of course "THE WARRIOR SUCKS ASS LUL".


Next one was when I was leveling my WHM, doing the lv63 dungeon Shisui, we reach the second pull with the fat fishies, the ones that keep spamming that knockback ability of theirs so I thought to stun them a few times by casting Holy to make it easier for the tank, we finish it s/he(most likely a she) starts complaining that if I wanted to DPS I should have picked a DPS class. I reply with "first of all I'll play whatever I want and however I want, second you have no reason to complain because you were always above 70% and third I wasn't DPSing'', then keeps telling me to stfu, you know I wouldn't have even minded the thing she said if she didn't have a lv55 WHM, anyway the whole run she keeps complaining every time I use Holy or anything besides healing, then at the Ruby Princess one of the DPS guys jumped on my box turning me and himself into a hag which wouldn't let me heal anymore so the tank dies, then she starts cursing at me even more saying I did that on purpose etc, I tried to explain what happened but wouldn't hear any of it, kept telling me to stfu again. now she starts complaining why I'm not casting Protect for her, I tell her if she wants Protect then she needs to wait and ask, I turn it off after using it at the start. This explanation of course goes completely over her head, starts mocking me and cursing at me a few more times and then I got kicked.

And the last one.

This one is more funny than anything obnoxious as the other two(and it's short).

Still leveling my WHM, lv65 now at Bardam's Mettle I get grouped up with this German DRK who had nearly every class at lv70. He did this weird thing when he would pull, he'd always stop cast unleash a few times, do a few combos then move(with regen on him), I'd get aggro and wouldn't notice it fast enough so I died 3 times because of this, the third time I got a little pissed and said "MATE, don't stop if you're going to pull! You're wasting spells and you're making it a lot more difficult'', his explanation was that he wanted to build aggro before he moved to the next pull, afterwards everything went smoothly, but he kept saying "This is NONSENSE why are you making me do it like this?!" lol. Some people really don't like being wrong, normally it'd be fine, but I was undergeared.

You seem to blind and didn't read what I said. Since you glanced over it, I'll copy paste it here for you:

He was not new to the dungeon. He had a leaf, so probably a level booster, so he got no sympathy from me nor the rest of the party as he knew what he was doing.


At level 70, with tanking, if you aren't pulling at a reasonable pace and not using your cds properly, you should consider another job. At level 70, you should'nt be told to use cds, nor use your tank stance. This s*** should be common knowledge as a tank at a high level. Also considering that maint was gonna be soon and we wanted to hurry up and finish the roulette, he was intentionally slowing us down on purpose and trolling.


Also Bara, this is a public forum, so I can share w/e the heck I want to share as it is within the subject of this thread, so you have no right to tell me what I should or shouldn't post.
