They're not going to give you 20 spells and abilities to use for Guest characters that you play as, especially for an instanced battle. It's meant to be more of an interactive cutscene than an actual battle. Since they have to assume there are people playing who have never played an Arcanist or Caster before, they simplify the and condense the skills. You get a Damage, Heal, and a Bind skill, and a Limit Break. Why complicate it? If anything they can do this with other characters to give the player a taste of other classes that perhaps they've yet to try out. I can imagine someone who has only ever played Melee playing this cutscene and actually falling in love with it and are then inspired to level Summoner or Scholar.

Yeah, that would be awesome, especially tank and healer tryouts too. Hopefully those will eventually be a thing, might inspire more peeps to give it a try. Give them a basic cliffnotes version of how one of those things plays and the player might end up liking the playstyle.\

To be honest, starting a job at Level 1 is insanely boring, you feel weak, you're wearing basically either nothing or your racial clothes, you only have 1 button and you fight little rats and bugs.

    That's not fun.

But, this thing with Alphinaud, you're fighting imperial soldiers and magitek helicopters and you've got more than just 1 thing you can do.

If we did more like this.... it'd be a better way to introduce a player to a new playstyle, or new class.

You can kinda-sorta do that with extra jobs from HW and SB, but the problem with those as I JUST experienced with RDM.... I get a Lv50 job that's got a dozen buttons and I'm like "how do these all fit?" and it takes a few battles to really get the hang of it and even then you're trying to build muscle memory and it's a bit much all at once.

Now, I had already gotten SCH on ~45 before this Alphinaud thing, but I can imagine that if I've never touched ACN (or any caster) before, that it would have been a decent "this is what it looks like from their PoV thing" and who knows maybe I would have been "hey, that's cool... I might try unlocking ACN now."
