Hildy just isn't very funny anymore

I was going through a very rough time four years ago. The Hildy quests in ARR were really my highlight. xD They ARR Hildy quests are still my favourite quests/storylines to date. Just thinking about them makes me laugh.


But for whatever reason, I just haven't found the Heavensward or Stormblood Hildy quests funny... at all. They seem a little forced, and maybe a little too serious most of the time with not enough of the ridiculous hysterics and dramatics. At least in my opinion... The quests' stories also haven't been very good... I appreciated the Vivi bit for a little bit, but...-shakes head-


Anyone else think the same?

Well, they actually said themselves that they didn't plan to continue Hildi after ARR, but the fan demand was so high that they did it anyway. The results is Hildi being there for the sake of appeasing fans, not because they had fun making it and I guess it shows.

Oh, I see. I wasn't aware of that. :c Yeah, I guess it really does show. Maybe they ran dry of ideas after ARR.

I've enjoyed the Stormblood story thus far, humor is subjective I suppose.

It just seems like it's just going through the motions of ARR's slapstick without any of the good setup ARR had.
And no one will be a better straight man than Briarden.

I'm glad you have enjoyed SB's Hildy so far!
In contrast, I find myself a little bored... I keep getting antsy and just wanting to "skip cutscene" (until I realise it's Hildy and skipping him is sacrilege!). I like the expressions as always (and the bombs, lol), but it's lacking somehow. Come to think of it, it might not be just Hildy quests that are starting to get lacklustre (for me, personally).
I hope you continue to enjoy the Hildy quests. ^ ^

The cutscenes are usually top notch, and the story itself is usually mediocre for the sake of delivering a good comedy routine.

But I think it would have been a way more fun to have, say, The Black Waltzes from FF9 during the whole Heavensward Vivi arc. Or a Yojimbo Trial for this Stormblood fiasco. Right now we are getting "one decent Hildy cutscene every 6 months" and thus hasn't been too entertaining.

I forgot about that. I loved the Gilgamesh & Ultros trial (especially Gilgamesh's). You have a good point, my good sir!
