The fact remains that not everyone enjoys things catered to the 'male gaze' and options should be kept equal. Right now, they are not. As paying customers of a P2P game, we're entitled to voice our concerns, and some have even voted with their wallets and left outright. And then they gave us the bunny outfit. So maybe - maybe - this isn't just a Sisyphean struggle, as much as it sure feels like it.

I have a feeling the next male set, will just be unisex. Because that's what happens. Males can't have nice things...

And that wouldn't be an issue at all if the current gear was unisex too.

    @HipiraVon-Horrificus
Which I totally agree. But will they stop complaining ?
Alright, but I wasn't trying to speak for everyone, you're deliberately taking that out of context. The person I was replying to said SE shouldn't add things that he, personally, doesn't enjoy looking at. My point was that not everyone that plays the game enjoys looking at the same things that he does.

This video I think will provide some insight on the matter.

    Well...

If they built the system and implemented it with the intent to allow androgynous male characters based on known hair and face combos, and consider the creation of those types of characters a design flaw worthy of rectifying via more restrictive and shittier glamour options than females, then SE far more incompetent than I ever dreamed possible.

It's more like the company itself, somewhere in the development process, is failing us. Whether it's lack of artistic talent, lack of resources, lack of priority, unfair design principles/guidelines, personal agendas interfering, mandates from the top down, or any combination thereof, we are being treated as second class.

And to those who keep asking when we'll kindly shut up and go away and stop making a handful of threads out of hundreds to complain... tell SE to listen to us and start being equal with glamours again. They can begin with making sure gender locked gear always has a male/female set going forward. No, female/unisex doesn't count. Either both sets are locked or neither of them are.

I feel like some of the replies here are a fair bit too harsh towards the development team, and that they're less likely to listen to us if we call them "lazy" or "incompetent" over a couple of sets. Surely there's a more constructive and mature way to express our desires?

I think Square has enough talent to make gear that looks masculine. Most of the Disciples of War gear are like that. The issue is about glamour restrictions, but that's a subject for another time.

The issue I see is that:
    • Square Enix simply doesn't care, as they are a Japanese company, and inherently care more about female character looks, the "waifu" culture and such.
    • Even if they are good for making manly armors, creating casual clothing for males may be difficult
    • They are against having a "middle ground" where female characters can wear manly clothes but male characters can't wear feminine clothes, probably because cultural reasons (in the real world, it's acceptable for females to wear pants but not for males to wear skirts, for example).

Either way I think they should put a little bit of effort to avoid making male players to feel like second class citizens. I think the bunny outfit was a step in the right direction but there is more to go, and with this patch we got another female-exclusive...

You do realize both Japanese men and women wear Yukata and Kimonos, which are essentially just dresses with a pretty sash, right..? Also, Scotsmen, most Middle Eastern cultures, the Aztecs, the Greeks and Romans, Germans and several other cultures have long history of wearing dresses and skirts.

I say this right now, I would much rather see SE give cool armor out examples would be.

    1. Holy armored out
    2. Evil looking armor skulls damaged looking
    3. hero looking status armor something that sticks out like a hero should.
    4. maybe some kick back clothing when you aint fighting
