Well I'd really question what % of people care if Viera have malformed feet or not, but it seems a huge undertaking given the amount of gear they will have to rework.
I'm sure it has been brought up before in this massive thread, but Tactics Viera didn't always wear shoes designed for their feet.![]()
Though perhaps it would look weird in 3D.
Question is: Them being confirmed as a beast tribe helps or hinders their chances of becoming playable?
My problem with this is that the defining part of Viera is their foot structure. If you take them away we'd just get another basic "Hyur with animal ears" race and the last thing this game needs is a third one.
While I agree, what I'm getting at, is that this gives the devs an out. If there is some boots that they deem "difficult" to reform for their feet they could simply leave them be, on a case by case basis.
I honestly would like for them to just put the time into remodeling old stuff for a feral type of foot. If they did that, it would mean that perhaps we could easily get other races in the future with similar foot structure, and lots of people, even if not viera supporters, do want races that are build differently. They could use Viera feet as a building block.

Yeah, like Ronso. Viera isn't the only race with animalistic feet that people would like to see in FFXIV, so it would be beneficial to both SE and players (Viera-in-specific supporter or not) in the long run.
I don't get the correlation people are having with Viera feet to the caster design contest winner. I mean, that's what the original artist created for their entry. It's not that SE was practicing a footwear for Viera, it's that they were trying to stay true to the artist's original wishes and/or intention. We can't really speak for the artist that he/she purposely designed his/her caster gear entry because he/she liked Viera or not, we'll never know. Let's not make generalized assumptions going down that route. I think you guys are making a bit of a stretch with this part at the very least. They are definitely practising for Viera feet as someone else mentioned. :| I noticed it right off the bat. Even the calves in those boots are the same as Viera. And also, conspiracy theory #2: why do you think they permitted the bunny stuff for males this patch along with those boots, and yet none of the other male/female stuff? And what about you-know-who's moonbunny ears on her get-up? -Wiggles brows- Sure, it could have been popular demand... or it could have been intended. We know how sneaky SE likes to be. They're probably kufufu'ing as we speak. ;3
I mean, the footgear makes it look feasible that they very well could. But, they certainly weren't using the design for practice. They were just holding up their end of the bargain that whoever wins these gear design contests, gets their original art put in or at least close as possible. Nothing more, nothing less really.
