That certainly didn't help. Like, why are we cheating that guy? He didn't do anything wrong, and we're screwing him over to help some other guy who is too lazy to get his own wine to impress his wife?

The Journal notes that we were sent to fetch... rather ACQUIRE a bottle of wine. Speaking with the vintner, it's revealed that we're willing to pay any price for that stupid bottle.

The whole thing is clearly a direct ribbing based on players' distaste for fetch quests, poking at the fourth wall to a degree we haven't seen since the DRK job quests. I was modestly amused.
The other NPCs reactions were cute, yeah. But then the rest of the quest is just garbage. We get sent on a pointless errand unrelated to the actual storyline they wanted to add to, and drawn from the absolute worst part of the ARR MSQ.

Then we get insulted by one NPC, sent to another, who sends us to another, to get an empty bottle, to have another NPC just show up out of nowhere to fake the wine so we can screw over another NPC that didn't deserve it, all so the first one can impress his wife?

I mean, I've seen Twilight fan fiction that was better written. Maybe it started poking fun at the player base, but it ended up more like actively laughing at the player going "ha, look at the stupid crap we make you do before you can get to the fun!"

Launch day of an Alliance raid looks like that pretty often. Hashmal was a fiasco early on, lol. I cleared it on the first try with a few wipes, and can't complain about anybody I ran into except the guy who kept spamming vote abandon.

You didn't screw him over, really. He's satisfied and got his drink, and he's going to turn around and do the same thing to some other rich schmuck by refilling the bottle, as he boasted.
