I would rather they fix all the tanks we have now before adding a new one into the mix.

If you visit the dps forums you'll see that it's said quite often. Though mostly from blm and sam players at the moment.

I guessed I've missed it, more jobs probably equals a faster moving discussion so it's entirely possible.
I still think it's a mistake to suggest we wait till the tanks are "fixed" before adding a 4th, they'll never get it right for everyone.
I don't even think that neither tank balance nor gameplay as it stands is that broken, could be better but none are that bad at the moment.

Then we're never getting a new tank, because they've been struggling miserably with tanks since 2.0. By the time 4.5 hits and all of the tanks are in a decent spot, 5.0 will be on the horizon and will yet again botch their balance horribly until about 5.5, and the cycle will repeat until the game dies because SE finally decided to just allocate all of its budget toward FF XV instead of most of it. Not only have they failed at balancing the tanks against each other since the beginning, they've also failed consistently at getting tanks in a stable spot in terms of offense and gearing, as we're still dumping millions of gil on BiS crafted gear because they refuse to admit that tanks are glorified melee DPS without positionals and with marginally more responsibility.
I'm aware of how negative this is, but the fact remains is that if we wait on tanks to be balanced before adding new ones then we'll never get a new tank, and frankly that's bad for tank players and DPS players alike.
Honestly, impracticalities aside I think a puppet/projection tank would be a really fun thing to try out purely from a "what would be fun to play" perspective.
You'd probably piss off a lot of roulette groups in the learning process though.

Not to mention this little thing called auto attacks which would be interrupting your casting. Wait....maybe implement a class that solely does insta casting! ....yah, please don’t do a magic tank.Imagine having to get snap aggro and having to wait 2.5s (or more) for your cast to go off. Meanwhile, your co-tank that just ate a vuln-up buster takes an auto and dies. Or, you're MT and a DPS pulls hate, so you use your aggro spell and 2.5s later (or more) you get aggro, but your DPS dies. No thanks. I'd rather not have a caster tank beyond what PLD does with HS.
It's as if people keep wilfully ignoring all the counterarguments.
A magic tank doesn't have to be a black mage.
Red mage is a combination of caster and melee, just take the same concept and reverse it, melee weaponskills (with magic themed effects, spellblade etc.) plus all magic abilities.
PLD and DRK are already 20-30% magic as it is. This would just tip it further towards 50/50.

Presumably they don't want a magic tank, they want a mage tank. Big flashy spells, loose flowing robes, big pointy wizard hat, the works.
Not that keen myself, bit more magic, slightly lighter armor though...

Hoping for a magic tank ? Try the Dark knight...
