Depending on the class/job, I generally try to find a glamour that captures the overall feel of the class while generally being unique.
What are some reasons the rest of you put glamours together?

My character is based on myself and glamours reflect my own style preference tied to that profession.
Example:
Pugilist = Street Fighter/Competitive Fighter
Culinarian = Chef
Ninja = Ninja
Alchemist = Doctor/Nurse
I go fantasy crazy on the jobs I cant find a real world functioning counterpart too
Example:
White Mage
Dark Knight
Bard (I just cant wrap my head around a functioning version of this on a battlefield and contributing to the fight)
None of this is me judging the game or being factual, this is just how I work my own glamours.
I tend to do my glamours based off of my character’s personal style, and a little bit based no the type of job she is playing.
For example, I like to use very “girly” glamours for my healers, because I feel it fits the aesthetic, and my character is a huge girly girl. For tanks, I tend to look at armor choices, though light as I do not like overly bulky armor (the Heavy High Allagan Coat of Fending works perfectly for me, as does the Midan Coat of Fending). For my main (BRD), I am really stuck on the AF3 gear, but for the longest time I used the Sky Pirate Shirt of Aiming, or the Coat of the Lost Thief.

I choose clothes I would wear myself...
Usually I tend to glamor myself in masculine attire. I love the monk artifact armor since it's appealing and shows a bit of skin. Though other than that, guys are a bit limited with glamor options.
I love to tank, but I'm tired of armors, specially because the majority of armors in the game looks terrible in female characters (Lala don't count).
So I try to use non-armor cloths the combine with my main class which is Dark Knight.
I really want some more modern cloths mixing with fantasia theme.
I like to make use of the job armour if it looks nice, but customise it - eg. the summoner coat with different gloves/boots, or the dragoon armour with a different (more sensible) body piece.
Skirts are good, but only if I can wear tights underneath, which leaves a depressingly small pool of options (and a lot of costumes using pants instead). Just as well the Eikon Cloth mage skirts look nice, but some mid-length ones for all classes would be much appreciated.
I look for something sleek yet masculine i.e. Shire Philosopher's Coat, new Anemos suspenders, and the weaver AF top (i want that coat on my caster gods damn it).
But you know what really grinds my gears - I don't want to wear a skirt. Stop. It. SE. I like playing caster, healer and occasionally tank and I swear every top has some sort of tacky skirt or butt cape attached to it.
I choose glamours based on my character's style.
"We want bunny suits for guys!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Ishgard housing!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Viera!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Cloud's motorcycle!" -- OK! ✅
"We want Blue Mage!"-- OK! ✅
"We want the ability to earn past Feast rewards!" - HAHA no that's sacred.
