Any chance to see servers merging ?

PS3 version isn't for a full year away though, it'd be cost effective and maybe better for the player communities to merge and close a few servers in the meantime, then reopen new servers once 2.0 hits. As far as I am aware we're getting whole new server sets anyway.

Ok let's say they merge now then open new worlds guess what? all the new worlds only be full of new players that the issue why SE is not merging.

It's not really true. Assuming they use the same policy used in FFXI, when they create a new server they will allow players from other servers to apply to the new server. Depending of population balance, only certain servers might be allowed to apply though.

i suport server merge. They should lower the amount of servers to half and use the empty ones to resume the original FFXIV! /o/

Most people enjoy the people there with and linkshell so Merging would bring issue i think that why there not doing it.

i wont mind server merging for the servers that have less people it be great for them so they have more players to play with.

Not really a issue...i remember when they created the remora and [insert the other server name...forgot the name of the second server]...i remember they also did population balancing this time to specifically lower the population from Odin which was way too high...and due these features i say entire LSs changing server...the one i was at Alexander did it...the entire LS changed server...i just stayed at alex because i had my best friend there and he >>>> the entire LS.

But i heard it wasn't an isolated case...many LSs migrated from overcrowded/overcompetitive servers in a search of a brand new cconomy. The funny is that, by what i heard from my friends that migrated, most of Remora popuation was actually veteran, not newb...and this is exactly what would happen here i believe since a large part of the FFXIV pop are former FFXI players or FF fans that actually wouldn't mind following the suggestion of friends.

Ya i don't see much of a issue but SE does maybe when it goes p2p and a lot of people quit for 2.0 they do a server merg.
